Hey guys, I know the TSS topic has been posted before but couldn't find any solid answers. I have a 2018 SR5 with the TSS/PCS radar in the logo and am about to install an ARB winch bumper. The winch + lights will be in the path of the radar so I'm wondering how I can disable it so I don't get random warnings or even emergency braking going on while driving. Can I simply remove the grill and cut the cable to the radar sensor or something? I don't want to disable it each time I get in the truck. Warning lights on the dash don't bother me I just don't want the PCS going haywire beeping and braking.

    Appreciate any help here, Thanks!

I'd expect you can code it out in techstream

Is that something I can do or a dealer thing?

Honestly not sure. You can "obtain" copies of techstream but I don't know if the more recent versions that support 18+ have been leaked yet

....and cheap knock off Tech Stream with cable on Ebay and Amazon that comes with 32bit drivers. Unless you have an old laptop be prepared to spend some time dealing with Chinese techs to help you upgrade to 64 bit over the phone which can take ........HOURS....or upgrade to a low miles 07 Tundra and avoid all the BS.....heh... heh

Dealer could not disable PCS on my 2018, so I have to manually turn it off each time I drive it (no problem, it is SOP right now). As far as I know, the radar gizmo behind the logo is for the Adaptive Cruise Control and I don't think it is part of the PCS (could be wrong on this though).

The radar sensor behind the grill is for adaptive cruise and also used for the PCS. You can just disconnect the cable to it, but you'll get warning message/lights on the dash every time you drive saying there's an error. I'm not sure that I've seen anything in TechStream that would allow you to disable it, but I... know someone... who has TechStream and could have them check it sometime.

Haha I wish, used Tundras are really hard to come by and if you do find one it usually has high kms and a ridiculous asking price (they're good for resale but not for people who want to buy used)

Ah that sucks! I'm suprised they put such technology in the Tundra, I don't mind warnings but when the truck brakes itself and has a mind of its own that's where I draw the line. I'll try and see what I can do but this damn sensor is the only annoying this on this beautiful truck

Just to verify, unplugging the Toyota Logo sensor in the grill disables the automatic braking? Having a constant message doesn't bother me as much as false warnings and unprovoked braking on the interstate  Which I doubt would happen but something I have to worry about with the bumper covering half the sensor.

Yes if you unplug it you'll see the warning on the dash that the radar system has malfunctioned and also the pre-collision system light will be lit on the dash as well indicating that system is offline.

Doubt you can disable it. It’s a safety feature similar to TPMS, which is locked out from any editing or disabling.
