My 12 Tundra was at 65K miles, brake pads still had good service life to most likely 70K miles easy. This is the first truck I have ever owned (work truck that tows) that brakes lasted this long with the level of brake performance that is very good. However, I had a trip planned to Southern California and not sure if we were pulling my car hauler out and back. Instead of risking brake failure or anyone's life, the decision was made to just not be a cheap ass and get new rotors and brakes (rotors if needed).

At first, I checked the service life of the factory rotors. They were fine to use again, and that was my plan at first. I ordered some brake pads through 4 Wheel Parts in Colorado Springs. I knew better, but hey, maybe they have changed. I ordered some Hawk pads for 79.00 or so. Toyota wanted 100.00 for factory pads, and they were available.

Nope, I was given the wrong brake pads. At that point, I went to Autoanything and seen what was offered in the Centric brake line.
    http://www.autoanything.com/brakes/centric-c-tek-drilled-slotted-brake-rotors

Four days later I had my rotors and pads. The Centric ceramic brand pads were ordered.

165.00 to my door vs 79.00 for the wrong pads sounded good to me.

Bedding in the pads took a bit. I followed the directions, but had to partially do it again. No big deal.

    Opinions:

As stated earlier, I was totally happy with the factory brake performance. I did not have the brake issues that the 07- early 12' Tundras without the updated backing plates. Mine has the updated plates. Quality in parts and performance has never been in question with Toyota's in my long line of ownership. The factory brakes were a little grabby, maybe for a lack of term.

New setup brake hard with less effort, the brakes feel the same even after heavy used...every time.

Did the slotted/drilled rotors help? Simply put, yep. I knew they would on past experiences on some of my cars. So for a relatively cheap upgrade these work great.

Thanks for the review, I'm at 100k with my original rotors and thinking about replacing them.

Your rotors are probably still good too.

I needed to do some mods. I start looking at other vehicles around 3 years of ownership. Usually some new wheels or tires do the trick.

I boight some Centric rotors and Hawk pads from AutoAnything and installed them on my mother's vehicle, they were great.

Oh course she traded in it a few months later..

I plan to go with the Centric drilled/slotted rotors on my Tundra when it is time...

@ColoradoTJ Thanks for the review. I am going to move this to the review section. Maybe add the brake name your reviewing to the title?

BMW says not to machine M car brakes, and most brake shops wont machine drilled disks as they destroy the grinding pin on the brake lathe. As well as its not a cheap tool.

I only had the truck until 89k miles. However, in that time they were great.

Many people say that drilled rotors cause warping. Seem to me its a hit or miss subject because many people use powerstop and show great results. Did the rotors feel better than new oem?

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
I use powerstop slotted rotors with angled vanes (directional right and left). Slots for water, angled vanes for additional cooling compared to straight vanes.

I have used powerstop drilled before but I did not like the way I could feel (literally) thru the brake pedal the drill holes every time I braked, no more drilled stuff for me.

    Luck all.

I would buy just slotted rotors for a truck. It helps in wet weather braking.

Drilled rotors help with cooling, but on our trucks we don’t have rotor cooling ducts. Kind of pointless.

What about centric premium plain rotors. Or cryo centric for 100 each

C-tek tend to use the the same material just lack the rust proofing coating on the hats so they look terrible in 5 minutes. I accidentally got them once and regretted it. I also think the premium have the cross hatched finish so they bed in quicker (not positive about that though)

Centric makes the StopTech rotors. Contact @eccracer104 for StopTech Sport slotted and cryo treated. I just recently got mine through him. I highly recommend him.
