As you all have seen, I just put some '19 all black housing TRD PRO LED HL'S on from @Headlight Revolution with their harness as well, I have a SR5 model, So I followed the video instructions on how to tap into fuse box and wire up, so with their harness and having to de-pin the 2 wires in the turn signal harness (I have 3 wire turn signal harness, thier video shows 2 wire), so the LED strips are bright all the time with HL's on too, BUT I also have amber DRL's on too, I was told how to delete the running amber, but I kinda like the look of them on too, FOR THOSE WHO PUT THE NEW LIGHTS ON AND RUNNING iHacker harness , ARE YOUR LED STRIPS WITH OR WITH OUT AMBERS???

I went with keeping the amber on. I like the look of it.

I'm torn on this one myself. I don't actually have the new headlights yet but hope to pick up a set in the next few months. Been trying to decide which setup I like better myself. Both look freaking awesome IMO.

Headlight conversion still in progress (for about three weeks now?)...turning into a BFD. First I was keeping the ambers, then I wasn't, now I think I will (nice look @JeremyGSU, stock amber bulbs?).

Some members here worry about the signals being visible with HR bright DRLS @ARamirez73. I started to worry about the signals being bright enough even with the dimmed DRLs (To Be Determined)...LED signals? Or no LED signals? Too much heat in the housings with aftermarket LED signals??? Burn up these expensive Yota housings? But..the LEDs I'm looking at, there is a low level (half the chips) and a high level power (all the chips). High level for signal, low level for DRL?

I am not taking a chance on these high-dollar housings getting fryed. Bought me a cheepazz little infrared thermometer (I tol' ya...a BFD...a major f'n project). I'm going to measure the temps of the LED signal bulbs in the housing and compare stock to aftermarket LED. Maybe I should take pics before and after, videos before and after, etc. etc. :pccoffee::crazy::annoyed::smash::cookiemonster:

    Conclusions:

    (1) If the replacement LED signals won't incinerate the housings on low level, I'll probably keep the amber DRL and use LED replacement bulbs for signals and DRL.

    (2) If the replacement LED signals threaten to incinerate the housings with extended "on" time (DRL), I'll do the amber delete and use the LEDs only for the short-term turn signals.

    (3) If the replacement LED bulbs threaten to incinerate the housings at ANY power level, I'll keep the amber DRL and use the stock 7444NA bulbs.

Yes. I’m using the stock ‘16 turn signal bulbs.

I think the guys that are complaining have the stock LED headlights from factory and it may use a different turn signal bulb than if you did the conversion and used your old orange day time running lights.

I’ve looked at mine at night and didn’t notice any issues seeing them at all.

No amber for me. Be careful if your going to de pin I attempted to de pin and subsequently snapped the wire. So I taped both ends and it seems fine lol.

I read a post where someone else (might have been you) used their old bulbs. Since the new bulbs are different, how does that work?...Do you use your original sockets, and they will fit the new 2018+ housings and iHacker's harness?

Amber delete. I think it looks cleaner. Have the lights all one color when you look at it head on. I kept the side parking light orange(GTR Led) so when you see it from the side it stands out a little more for safety.

I've done both and I think I like the amber include better.

I have noticed several 2018 and 19s that don't have DRLs on at all?

    How does that work?

The led strip around the headlight have to be turned on manually in my '18. You can also turn them off. I usually keep the surround on and turn everything else off.

I've thought about putting a switch inline to do the same. Trying to think of a reason to have them off.

I would like to keep the amber on but make my white DRL amber as well. Has anyone done this? I am even thinking amber film over just the LED DLR part. Any ideas? I like the amber DLR lights of my 2014 but now I have a 2019 and I would much rather have the amber. Thanks

LED bulbs produce about 20% as much heat as an equivalent halogen bulb. They should be cooler than the stock bulbs. If not then something’s wrong.

My fears in that post were based on some false info in Amazon reviews. I did the testing for myself, and confirmed the temps were slightly cooler, but not 80% cooler. I think the temp results were posted here somewhere.

That post is nearly two years old...I'm smarter now. At least about LEDs, I'm smarter. :D

Good deal. I wasn’t trying to be a smart ass (this time). A lot of people think LED’s get hotter than halogen/incandescent bulbs, but it just ain’t so.
