So...the other day I came across a discussion on seat bolts. I tried to reply but for what ever reason I could not. Nonetheless, here I am.

I have a 2017 tundra...early in its life a small stitch was coming out of the seat...they (Toyota)...decided that replacing the seat was in order and easier. Well, they had the same issue with the seat bolts except when they pulled the bolt out it tore the nut off the inside/underside of the truck. The nut is welded into the truck body during body forming. There is no way access the nut. Toyota had to hole saw into the body to access the nut and pull and replace the bolt. Word of warning!!! I wouldn't pull the seats out unless absolutely necessary!!! I bet they use crush nuts on the back side for safety reasons. Just a heads up.

Yep. A solution of running in circles of ever increasing diameter until utter chaos and instability is achieved is professionally known as...a cluster f**k. Falls into the category of "It seemed like a good idea at the time...I can't understand what went wrong."

holy crap, i hope this doesn't become an issue that we see with limited leather seats, that would suck.

TWJLee, have you taken yours back to the dealer yet? Curious as to what they say.

Not yet, I did make mention and the response was “our vinyl/upholstery guy can take care of it”

This and a day after delivery I noticed a weird wavy, curved spot in the far passenger side of the windshield. Missed it when purchased, but will need corrected at some point

I took my seats out multiple times during my full stereo install and never had an issue bolting them back.

Yep, no issues here either. In fact I've had the rear seats out four times now.

I try to learn by reading through threads like this but damn, this trend of new forum members signing up without proving any basic details about their truck or where they are located makes it pretty much a waste of time.

Come on people, what f^<k!ng year is your truck, and where are you located? :facepalm:One or the other is required for us to address most questions on here. We need to know the year so we can isolate if the problem your posting about is due to some difference in the year model of your truck, than in an older build. And if ever you want to buy, sell, or whatever, knowing generally where you are, for shipping and what-not, is gonna be necessary.

Also... members with no personal info whose first post is to complain about a random problem none of the rest of us have ever experienced or heard about... give me the munchies.

Easy fella....just trying to spread the information about a supposed issue that my Toyota Dealer had. If one of the bolts on the seat has a different thread pitch nobody knew about it at my dealer. Yeah we're in Montana. Like I said...a little more communication between the engineers and the dealers.

I'm honestly not sure how you screw that one up. Maybe the person who did it got an impact wrench in there somehow and went the wrong way with it?

I was going to say the same thing, Jason!

We also have a Sienna and had it in for a sliding door recall last year. After being without it all day I finally went to pick it up with our three y.o. kid. Picked up the keys and paperwork. Got the kid buckled and sat down. Found out before leaving they forgot to bolt the front seat to the floor. All four bolts were el gonzo. I brought this to the attention of the team lead who was very apologetic acknowledging that sort of mistake can cost lives. They gave us a free LOF and full detail. I was hoping for a free Pro but oh well.

Ugh. Same happened to my 2010 when I was reinstalling my rear seat after a stereo install. I heard the drivers side nut fall into oblivion as I was reinstalling the bolt. Tearing into the undercarriage with a hole saw doesn't sound appetizing. Any other ideas?
