hey guys I just bought a 2019 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro here in Texas. I purchased the extended warranty for 8 years or 100,000 miles for $3,000 but It seems a little expensive. I was wondering if this warranty is even worth it. I have 30 days to cancel it and get my money back.

Better to have it and not need it.

I turned it down for my highlander but I bought it for my Tundra. I like the peace of mind, $3K is around what I paid as well.

If the extra cost is not a deal breaker, then I say keep it. Our trucks are reliable, but it's always good to have a backup warranty. I ended up getting it for peace of mind.

Return it and use money for mods. Extra warranty seems like a waste for a bullet proof tundra. I feel the standard warranty is adequate. I was fortunate to get a lifetime power train warranty included my 19 platinum though.

    mine came with this..

    What’s covered?
Everything that’s included in the Toyota Factory Limited Powertrain Warranty is now covered for as long as you own your vehicle. You can learn about it in your owner’s manual.

    How much does it cost?
Zip. Zero. Nada. The Dick Hannah Toyota Lifetime Limited Powertrain Warranty comes standard with every new Toyota at no extra charge.

Is there any extra maintenance required to maintain the warranty? Nope. You must simply follow the Toyota factory recommended maintenance as referenced in the owner’s manual. It’s that easy. Be sure to keep all records.

Must I have all of my service completed at Dick Hannah Toyota? No. While there are some pretty good reasons for having your car regularly serviced here, such as our super nice factory-certified technicians, Loyalty Rewards benefits, and the fact that we keep all of your maintenance records for you, you are not required to do so.

During the purchase of my truck I was a little too excited and said yes to a extended warranty. I can’t remember what it was but I was like F that, that’s too expensive. I went back a few days later and canceled it. They were smooth talkers and ended up giving me a few offers which I kept denying. Finally they got me at 10 years 100,000 miles for $1200. I snatched it up. Sometimes threatening to cancel can get you a better deal.

I like the piece of mind. I always get insurance on most things I buy. While the Tundra is one of the most reliable trucks on the market, sh*t happens.

I paid less than half that for the Toyota 8/100. Ask for money back or return it and rebuy somewhere else. Search this forum and you'll find a few dealers that you can get ext warranty from for less.

X2^ I purchased 10yr 125k for considerably less. I purchased for cam tower and tss stuff just in case. Easier to sell truck too if i decide to upgrade, nothing like offering a 10yr 125k platinum warranty to ease any future owners mind with those issues.

True. I paid $2995 for a Chevy and didn't need it lol. A Toyota should not even need it, or else I'll just go back to Chevy and Ford if I wanted to buy extended warranties.

I paid $1650 for 8yr/125k Platinum from Toyota.
$3k is definitely high. It seems like half is for the warranty and half for the dealership... Thieves!

Be sure to ask if it will cover a cam tower leak. Seriously. That’s a 3K fix.

    LOL..

Why not buy it before the factory runs out? I hate buying it up front simply cause the first 3yrs its covered by MFG. MFG will always be covered first and the ext warranty companies know it.

The factory warranty is limited, and was only 2yrs when I bought my truck. The Platinum warranty is through Toyota (not third party) and is bumper to bumper. There is plenty of things on your truck that are NOT covered by the factory warranty. I had an a/c bearing seize, lock up the belt and everything attached to it, and take down my 06' @30k miles. This would not be covered by anything but the Platinum warranty. Over $2800 in repairs, and I didn't have to pay a dime, and I got a free loner, and a free tow to the dealership of my choice. For the most part our trucks are extremely solid, but with anything, there is always a chance of something stupid just coming along and ruining the day. The Platinum warranty from date of purchase for me is nearly a decade of peace of mind. I don't buy any other add on coverage (paint, interior, wheels) just the Platinum.

    Welcome from San Diego.
If you have the money to spend on the warranty, do it. Even if you don’t use it, it’s piece of mind. If something major happens to the truck, it’ll more than pay for itself.
