Hello, all. As the title states, I'm looking for recommendations on an edger. Up until now I've just been using my Echo weed-eater to edge my yard, but it doesn't always look the best... I only have a 1/4 acre, but there is a lot of edge around the grass. I've been happy with Echo, plus I have a $150 Home Depot gift card that's been sitting around for about 18 months, but the reviews of the "homeowner" Echo edger say it's a bit under-powered. I have a Stihl blower that hasn't given me any problems, but I don't know if it's worth not using the gift card to get a Stihl edger. I haven't looked much into electric models, but I'm open to the possibility of one.

    Thanks in advance!

For the average homeowner, the echo pas system is pretty bad ass. You can get the weedeater and edger attachment together for around $300 if I remember correctly. Or, buy the weedeater only for $230ish and buy the edger separately for like $80.

I have the 225 pas, with the edger and weedeater and it works quite well for what I paid.

If you're a stihl guy, their kombi system is nearly identical, and just as reliable

There are attachments for almost anything you would need for taking care of your yard. Hedge trimmers, bed edge redifiner(can't be used on the 225, you would need one of the more powerful units), leaf blower, etc.

Admittedly, I didn't read your whole post. However, after reading it thoroughly, what echo set up do you have now? If you have a pas currently then no brainer, use your gift card and get the edger attachment. However, if you don't have the unit that can change attachments you could look into getting a stick edger from echo or stihl.

I currently just have the Echo SRM-225, so I can't swap out attachments. That said, I'll probably just get a stick edger. Your recommendation was still helpful, thanks!

Ive got the Echo edger from HD (can't remember the model). The only time I see it being under powered is if the ground is wet (even just a little). I usually edge every other mow, so it is not so hard to get a time when the ground is dry - even if I have to skip a week. Overall, I've been really happy with it.
