    i have a 2018 crewmax SR5 5.7L
According to my load sticker I have a 1265 payload for cargo and passengers. My question is how much weight should I be comfortable throwing in the bed? I’m trying to haul a ton of gravel and trying to see How many loads I should break it down into. Thanks for any help

Personally I would think you would want to keep it at or under 1000 pounds if it’s just you driving.

Your beter off renting a trailer for 29 bucks at you haul do it in one trip that way you dont accedentley overload your truck gravle is heavy or ive done it with home depot buckets i forget how many you can fit but 12-14 should be fine and its easy to unload and you can do the math so at least you know how heavy it is

Really why not just have a tri axel haul.it in or will it not go where you need the gravel. That's how I do my driveway .
Other then that I would rent a dump trailor

    Home Depot rents dump trailers.

However, most of the time, a tandem axle end dump delivery fee is about the same.

The big reason I wanted to do it my self was cause a ton of gravel isn’t o my going to cost me 30$ and they want to charge me 50$ to deliver it so I’m being stubborn basically. Was just looking to see if people have pushed they’re payload and how the truck did

At least you inquire about payload.

The other day we had members bragging about 3700 lbs in the bed of their Tundras.

The payload is weak on the Tundra. My wife's Highlander has more payload.

That being said don't put gravel back there! I had the EXACT same thoughts a few years back with my '11 Tundra. Went to the yard and got several loads of gravel in the truck. It squatted pretty good but handled the load fine as long as you drove accordingly. Here's what I didn't think of: The bulldozer that loads it has a wide scoop that can control how slowly it tips the rocks into the truck but not necessarily the width etc. Rocks went bouncing off the back of my cab, sides, etc. Bottom line is I had a few scratches on the truck that I didn't have before because it's just hard to load them carefully in. It's not a dump truck. I also had a bunch of rocks stuck around the sides of the bed in the bedliner that were very difficult to get out and stuck in my back bumper. PITA.

I learned my lesson and when I got my new truck and needed to haul a bunch of mulch I rented a dump trailer. And to be honest in hind sight on that I wish I would have just paid a little more to have a Tri-Axle just dump it on my driveway. Like you I've tried to be cheap several times.

This is what I needed to hear a bad experience I’m sold I’ll just rent a trailer...or try to convince my wife that I need to buy a trailer so that I’m not waisting money renting them.

Another alternative is to purchase your rocks from the big box store. The beauty is that they are bagged and they can fork lift a pallet into your truck. Once you get home, then you take out one bag at a time and carry it to the spot vs. shovel and wheel barrow (out of truck or off of ground). The cost is about the same around here.

Agreed. It is good to see someone that actually takes it into consideration, instead of the many that I see who just ignore it.

If it were me, I would just take two trips and load the truck myself if the quarry will allow you. I have done that on a couple of occasions - just consider it my workout for the day and bring the shovel and back up to the gravel pile. The local transit mix allows you to self-load. Some places don't.

Either that, or have them load it with a bobcat instead of a loader. Smaller bucket. Just make sure the operator is competent.
