My dad says it’s had this noise since 03 does anyone know what it might be? I’ll up load to YouTube then give the link.

It’s not there all the time it does get quieter as you drive but is still audible.[/QUOTE]

    No it's not.

The highway off camera is quite audible though.

Sounds like an exhaust leak to me.

But there are about 500 things on an engine that can cause a clicking noise in a youtube clip.

If it is an exhaust leak could it possibly just be a gasket?

    Chances are it’s the manifold.

Ok I’ll look into it though it’s not my top priority it’s been like that forever. Thanks for all the help though. We recently bought a 54 Willis Jeep so that’s what my dad and I are putting our time and effort towards.

Bingo. My truck makes this exact noise but not as bad. These early trucks were known to get hairline cracks in the exhause manifold. Once my engine warms the crack must shrink and the noise goes away.

OP, Google this issue and you'll find info on it. It's a pretty harmless problem honestly.

Good possibility. An automotive stethoscope is the only way to really pin it down though.

How would I diagnose it with a automotive stethoscope?

You systematically listen with the stethoscope in different places until you find where the sound is coming from. The way they work is that they only transmit sound from very near the source, like within a couple of inches so you can pinpoint where the sound is coming from. Check the gaskets, check the manifolds, check anything you think may be the source of the sound until you hear it loud and clear in the stethoscope and you will know you found your problem.
