Are you wanting an S8 because of price? It's a good phone but it's two years old. You can get a new S10e for not much more than an S8.

I have the Galaxy S8+ and also have Verizon for service. I love it and have had no issues.

S8 gets 3.25 star reviews on average on Verizon but I didn't read any.. just was thinking that's kinda low review for a phone newer than mine.

If you're not opposed to buying used, I've bought a couple from www.swappa.com

My wife has an S9 and hasn't had any issues with it.

Love my S8. Had a 4 then upgraded to a apple. Hated that! Went with a droid now back to galaxy. I'm going to keep it, even though the screen is broken. Better camera than the new apple imo. Gonna be leaving Verizon as soon as my contract is up. Been with them for 20 years and way to expensive.

Loved the S8 while I had it. Was about a year and never had any issue on Verizon. One challenge is finding a good screen protector if you like a glass one. Now on the Note 9 and may not be able to go back to a non-Note Samsung. As stated earlier, check swappa, may be able to get a good deal on an S9. Good luck.

I dont like the idea of the edge where the screen wraps around. Does the S8 have that? So you cant get a tempered glass screen protector for the edge phones? I like my S7 with the tempered glass in Otterbox Defender.

I have the S8, wife has the S8+ and we've been happy with them. Neither of us has a screen protector and mine is fine. The wife has one small scratch on her screen after almost two years. We have AT&T and while I personally think they suck, both phones themselves have been fine.

I tuned in here b/c I'd like to know about the Galaxies- I cheated with a Moto 6 and it sucks; super heavy and so muck bloat it's ridiculous.

... And, aside :gossip: , I also wish I could find good coverage apart from Verizon. Here in SD, Verizon has the best coverage I know but doesn't work in several pockets.... including where I live :frusty:. Verizon also reaches to my family's various homes we visit... rural Idaho and rural Arkansas, as well as big cities. No matter how often I read that all carriers piggyback on the same towers, only Verizon seems to work in remote areas :notsure:. I don't want to derail this thread; however, if anyone chiming in about the Galaxy 8 can speak to alternative cellular providers....

I finally fired my Windows phone. Great phone but no apps. Got a Samsung Galaxy Sol 3 for $130. Android Oreo 8.0. Actually got an update this morning. I've used all carriers over the years with spotty results in remote areas. I'm with Cricket now and pretty much get a good signal anywhere since Cricket piggy backs. $35 a month with 6 gig. Got tired of the major carrier fees and taxes. Fired cable/satellite too. Stream everything. The Sol 3 is quite a good phone. Not up there with top end Galaxies but works for my use. Decent photos too and have PIP capability. Happy Camper. Peace....

I had an S7 Edge and it couldn't handle everything I wanted to use on it. Android auto was slow, for example.

I've had an S8 plus for over a year now and it still handles everything I want, so I think it has adequate specs for use today. I recommend 64gb internal storage at a minimum for expandable phones, and 128 for non expandable. You always want to have a good amount of free internal storage on an android device for performance.

@Racingjohndeere55, just to let you know. I did the same thing and regret it. AT&T is cheaper, but service sucks. Leaving them after I pay phone off. Either going back to Verizon or Straight Talk.

I've used Straight Talk before. Quite good coverage like Cricket.

Yeah Matt, I haven't, but my wife used it. It was great for her, and cheap. My only gripe with them is customer service. Better than att.

FWIW the Pixel phones are worth looking at too. I've had 2 of the previous Nexus series and now a Pixel 2. There really is a huge difference in Android without the manufacturers software on top of it.

I almost got the S8 last year, went S9 instead. It's an amazing phone. I normally find myself buying phones that are a year or more old, this time around I figured why outdate myself? My curse is I tend to keep phones for 3 years before replacing them, so eventually I'll have a dinosaur phone.

Plus I didnt like the finger lock placement on the S8 and I got the buy one get one "deal". Sold the other to my buddy for $450 and that worked out.

Anyone still have a Samsung Galaxy S10 and still like (or dislike) it? I'm looking to replace my ~3 year old Samsung Galaxy A5 and I'm looking for something that's an upgrade in terms of performance that isn't too much larger and won't break the bank. Of the new (i.e. not pre-owned) phones I can get from my provider, that one seems to check my boxes the best, though I didn't really consider LG or Motorola because I don't think they're as good as Samsung or Google. I also didn't consider Huawei because I don't want the Chinese government to know how much time I spend on Tundras.com.

I suppose the other option would be to buy a phone from somewhere else and just swap my sim card over if I can figure out how to confirm it would be compatible with my network.

Sorry in advance for reviving an old thread. Let me know if you guys want me to make a new one or put this somewhere else.

Mife wife has had an S10 for a few months and it seems to be doing well.

I really liked my S8, thought it was a great phone. My newer S9 doesn't seem to be much if any of an improvement, actually to me doesn't perform as well as the S8.

I have a 3 year old S8 and it's holding up very well. I think its comparable to the S10 as far as size is concerned. My wife and daughter just upgraded S8+ for new S20's. The S20 is almost identical in size to the S8. The 20 seems to have a really good camera but the biggest upgrade is that it's 5G compatible across the board whereas the 8 and 10 aren't fully 5G compatible.
I'm not sure how the price is on the 20. I know neither of them got trade in value for their old phones. They're both hard on their phones and vehicles. Mine on the other hand looks like the day it was new. Kinda like my truck :D

My network only has 4G for now so I doubt a 5G phone is worth the extra expense for me. The S9 and S9+ are offered by my provider but only as a certified pre-owned. S8 must be too old for the kids these days to buy.

If you read all of the reviews from the top sites, the S9 is rated a better phone than the S10 and
    S20.

So you think pre-owned S9 is better than new S10? S20 is out of my price range, anyway.

I have the S10+, It's been the best phone I've had so far. I wouldn't even consider the S20. It's not worth it in my opinion. It depends on what ya wanna do with your phone.

The 100X zoom is a joke, your not zooming @ 100x and getting a clear picture. Also 5G is not readily accessible. It's kinda like looking @ a 8K TV, barely any 8k content, it's just not worth it
