Went in for an oil change...and they’re keeping my truck!

Don’t hate me. My truck came with free oil changes at the dealer, so hell, I let them do it!!

Today I went in for an oil change (because my truck yelled at me this morning saying it needs one), and I asked them to see if there are any codes pending because I get a “BRAKE!!” Warning occasionally and last week while playing in the dirt, I got a warning something like “warning! Trailer brake overload! Brake failure” or something like that. Well there wasn’t a trailer connected at that time. The service guy said that “I think we have a fix for that, I know somebody else had that same problem last week and they found the fix.” So I thought “cool”. Then as he’s looking it up, he finds that I have yet another open recall on my truck! WTH? A third one?? Well at least they are fixing it BEFORE it is a problem!
So I walk over and sit down and the next thing I know they are bringing me keys saying that I’m ready to go...only problem is that they have to keep the truck and aren’t sure for how long. Now I’m driving a 2019 Tacoma. It’s a nice little truck, but MAN!! It’s small! Lol (at least that’s what she said! There I beat you to it!)

Anyway, just letting everyone know that there is another recall out there affecting our trucks. I’ll let you know when I know what it is.

Hopefully that’s it. When I pick it up they will tell me all about it (or at least they have in the past)

It’s ok, but I haven’t had a small vehicle since about 1994 so it feels sort of..small lol.

When you pull into the garage, does it ask you "is it in yet?"

I have never taken my truck to the dealer for any service.

Dude, when it’s free, you’re missing out! While it’s there this dealership has a free putting green, massages and haircuts as well as a lounge with two 72” tv’s. It’s actually pretty cool.

My dealer has an awesome seltzer water machine in the lobby, it's worth going for my Toyota care just for that!

I don't. I just take it in for issues I can't address myself.

Too often when I take my vehicles to dealerships do I end up with another problem.

My dealer gave me free oil changes for life with my Tundra. I'll probably never use them.

While I’m not crazy about the smaller vehicle, it does handle well and drive well and the “base stereo” blows the “upgraded stereo” in the tundra completely out of the water! Holy Crap!

They must have changed the equipment. I had a 2016 Taco, the stereo was incredibly bad. The one in my Tundra is much, much better.

I understand what you are getting at here. But also think if you have the service records and something goes wrong even a crossed thread for some reason . They would have to fix it. I do my oil changes but my wife's 2018 Camry dealer does them.

Yeah I didn’t take it advantage of my two free changes. I figured F them I want to do it myself. But if I had lifetime free oil changes... I would let them own it. But if my warranty runs out and then something happens to the truck that’s their fault, I’m sure they will point the blame at anything else they can but themselves. But lifetime of free oil changes and a lifetime warranty, I’ll take that!

Well I just heard back from them. The oil is changed and the recall is taken care of, but they have a tech coming from Toyota to take care of the 2 warnings I’ve been getting ( the “BRAKE!!” Warning and the trailer brake warning) so if others are still getting these faults, according to the dealership here, it IS a known problem and there IS a fix!

This^^^^ , me too. No way in hell I'm letting a $10/hr kid change the oil on my truck or my wife's Frunner. I don't give a shit if they if they're free. NOPE!!! Not to mention the nearest Toy dealer is 90 miles away, not what you'd call convenient.
