    it might. Depending on the ohms. The dash 3.5 speakers over power everything with 6 ohm. Not sure how they draw all that power. But they do.

    Ok I was busy with upgrades to Stereo Speakers, Mirrors, Wheels and Fender Flares

    Hello members. Im trying to upgrade the front speakers on my 18 CM. Does anyone know whats the max depth that we can go with? I found some Infinity Kappa 6x9. 135 RMS each!!! They are components and upgradable to add a midrange. The only downside is the depthness needed: 3 3/16” with top mount installation. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

    Super easy to use a short self tapping screw. That's what I did. Just used a stubby screwdriver to put it in. It's too tight against the windshield to use a power tool other than a 90° drill, but really there is no need, stubby Phillip's took care of it with a few turns

    So, ordered the parts for this on Friday, finally got time to do this today. About an hour's worth of wiring, using the 4438 wiring harnesses, and everything works. Just running factory speakers for now, but may upgrade in the future. Thanks to the OP for starting the thread.

    So far it's a marked improvement. Still trying to get the gains set. I do believe a set of speakers front and rear will be the next step. Well worth the time and money.

    Sounds awesome. Be aware that in dash speakers are not powered by the amp but are directly powered by the OEM head unit.

    I upgraded to a alpine 309. Sounds way better than stock. Plus I can finally hear, usually I have the stock unit’s volume at 50+

    Damn, that was a lot of reading.

    So, my ultimate question here; I am the proud owner of a non-JBL system, and I've recently replaced my factory HU with a Dasaita one (see the thread on here, it's pretty badass). Is there a way that I can install an amp, upgrade my factory speakers, and NOT have to run new speaker wires from the new amp to the new speakers? Or is that a no, because my original HU powered all the speakers without an amp in the first place?

    You should have had an OEM amp under the front passenger seat. It's there, my DC had it. Basically, you're removing the stock amp and running the upgraded, better aftermarket amp through factory wiring, pushing about 45 watts rms. The wiring diagram from Alpine left a little to be desired, but the 4438 harness is color coordinated with the Alpine harness for the most part. But doing this mod should do exactly what you want, run a better amp through factory wiring, and be able to run better speakers.


    All that said, what speakers is everyone running in the double cab? Im pretty sure I want to keep max power of the new speakers to around 50 watts rms since the amp maxes out at 45.

    So if I'm understanding this correctly; If I wanted to upgrade my full system, I could buy the Alpine KTP-445U and the 4438 harness and I would have 45 watts rms to all my door speakers, with the dash speakers being powered directly from the HU?

    It sounds like the 4438 might require some splicing? And what is this "add an amplifier" for at the bottom of the thread? Is this an easy way to add an additional amp? Cause I have a 2 channel and a 4 channel amp laying around from my previous vehicle that only had 4 door speakers, then i bridged the 2-channel for a 10" sub. I wouldn't mind having a sub again if I can make things an easy install

    There was splicing, but it only involved connecting the 4438 harness to the Alpine wiring harness. Wiring would be a bit different, though not much more difficult if you were using a different amp. You would have to run a heavier wire for your power and ground since you'd exceed what the factory wires were capable of handling. Now, im not sure what I'd have to do in order to add an amp for a sub if I wanted one. But, the Alpine setup with the 4438 harness, once wired up is essentially plug and play. I am however finding the shortcomings of the factory non-jbl speakers.

    So, figured I'd ask this here since this is going to be in conjunction with the Alpine amp, what does everyone think of running these speakers, sound ordinance p-67b?

    Price seems reasonable, I can pick up the sail panels already cut for a tweeter and somehow make these tweeters work in that panel. That would speed up the install time since I'd could just swap everything out instead of having to modify.

    Hey ST - found your thread and those PB's look interesting. I have a 2016 CM SR5 and was looking at the FoCal's, but may have to rethink that after finding this thread.

    Question for you - looks like these fronts and backs come with tweeters. I assume front corner dash tweets and rear door tweets?
    But you said you didnt use them cause the wires dont match?

    What exactly do you mean - the front or backs which set(s) did you not use?

    I did not use both due to the factory oem plug did not match. I know I can splice it and make them fit. But I felt that OEM tweeters did a good enough job in front and rear doors.

    I did this mod this weekend and will say it's exactly what i needed for my truck. Night and day difference. I always hated how 'quiet' the stereo was and how high you had to turn it up just to hear some tunes with the windows down. I was not interested in spending $700+ on a system. Use to i would have to turn the dial to 40 but now 20-25 does the trick. I'm even surprised how well the door speakers sound now that they have a little more juice.

    So, if I were wanting to run a small powered sub to take some strain off the speakers and add some bass, what's the best way to get the signal to the sub? I know I'd have to run new power and a ground.
