Trying. When I called it wasn't even on the lot yet. Waiting for it to arrive so we can go check it out. As soon as we do I'll post it up. I'm excited to see how the sport handles

I didn’t by any means want you to think it’s weak. It’s just not what you’re used to in a Tundra. Mine is a 2012, so there’s always a possibility it’s been improved. (There’s always the tow/haul button trick if it’s a big deal.)
I agree that it is fine. It’s a fantastic vehicle. Mainly, the interior seems dated. Some gadgets are nice. For example, the stereo is total garbage, even by Toyota’s standards. The one we looked at back in February still had the same head unit our 2012 does.

I really don’t mean to be knocking it, just sharing what I know about it. We have been more than happy with it, the best family vehicle we’ve ever had. It has about 190k on it, and we haven’t had to do anything besides normal wear and tear. Tires, brakes, battery, headlight lamps.
If they’d have updated it we’d have probably gotten another one by now. It’s just a tough pill to swallow paying that kind of money to basically reset the mileage.

i appreciate the positive feedback. hopefully the power is there, but like i said it has to be better than the 2010 4.0 4runner im replacing. its got tss, back up camera, heated seats, nav, led headlights and a few other goodies. i updated my tundras audio to oem plus and it sounds great, im sure i can upgrade the sequoia. im also going to add amp power running boards to help everyone get in and out easier. upgrade the wheels and tires and it should be a very capable truck that can do what i need it to do.

I was really surprised at the lack of "umph" that the Seq has compared to the Tundra. Hopefully we'll be pulling the trigger on an 18 here in the next two days. I have a spreadsheet going with 11 dealers still in the running for the best price.

The 49K number isn't that rare when you start pitting dealers against each other. Now it's coming down to the "What else you gonna do for me" discussions. One thing that popped up, and may sway me a bit to a 19, is that some dealers are coming in at 54K right out of the gate, so if I can get a 19 down a little bit more, that may be the way to go.

And yes, premium package, OTD prices. The only thing I have to cover is tax/license.

I don’t see a difference between my tundras vs the sequoia

Got my tundra down to 36k before T&L 2018 SR5 crewmax TSS off road. Used all the discounts they offered 5000 total I think and also had them take off the add ons prices told them they advertised this truck not a base SR5 so I was negotiating that truck not a base model with add ons. They said no so I wrote down my number told him to call me when he can. started to pack up and he said wait and came back with the price I wanted. Hefty down payment probably helped.

the issue that im going to have is that the truck we are going to get will not be local to me. also because of the way her work compensates for her vehicle we are much better off buying a 19 over a 18. plus im 99% sure we are going to have to travel due to their only being about 50 of the 19 trd sports on lots right now. so my negotiating power is at about 0 im sure. if i go in aggressive ill be taking a plane back home

It’s going to be the same amount of power coming from the Platinum and Limited models. Provided that they are both either 2wd or 4x4, you will have the same driving experience. I have a SR5 4x4 Sequoia and my wife has the Platinum 4x4. My SR5 is a split second quicker of the line than hers, but, it’s because her Platinum model has more shit under the hood, than mine do. Plus, the tech at Toyota told me that my SR5 has a slightly bigger air intake than hers, due to the available spacing under the hood, of the two models.

I thought that he was BSing me, so, one day I went over to the local Pepboys and inquired about getting aftermarket K&N drop-in replacements for both my wife’s and mine. They showed me on their computer that they were two different model/part numbers for the two.

Interesting. The trd sport doesn't have the bells and whistles like the platinum. I figured the power would be the same between them. The biggest thing she wants to see in person is the colors. Will report back

Drove 2 hours to pick up a new 18 Sport for the price we wanted. Nice 2 hour trip back. I did a stint in the 3rd row and was pretty damn comfortable which was a HUGE surprise being I'm 6'4 and am sporting a walking boot.

Nice, is it the 4X4 and what kind of deal did you get, you can PM if you want! I was talking with a dealer and they said $49,000 bottom line!

4x4 premium. Thats about as low as they will go right now. Not sure if they would go lower in a month or two.

Just an FYI, took my wife's TRD Sport out yesterday. Yes "Beast" mode works on it too, and you can do burnouts for days.....

I will be checking out some Sequioa trd sports tomorrow with the misses. Hopefully I can score a good deal.

So far 2 dealers I talked to in san diego are giving me 57k and 55k price tags down from 60k which I'm hoping they can come down more.

    None, yet....
You won't regret it. We have a 16 Tundra TRD Pro and an 18 TRD Sport Sequoia. We really love the Tundra, but the Sequoia is our go to road trip vehicle. We drove to Michigan with 4 people, 2 dogs, and 4 carry-on sized luggage and managed 19.4mpg, while going 5 over the speed limit the whole way up.

A 2018 TRD Sport Sequoia with a Magnuson supercharger would be awesome and ideal for us. Too bad for me it was going to cost a fajillion dollars. And there was no 2018 supercharger kit, which needed to be installed at purchase to escape the wife veto.

We got the Tundra instead. I'll manage.

Well happy to report the wife is a new proud owner of a Sequioa TRD Sport.

    Traded in the Tundra.

    So far so good.

I don"t understand that either? same Motor & Tanny, same power output, slightly heavier.. but my 2016 sequoia limited runs like an Animal !!! Try turning on the Tow/Haul button, and HOLD ON !! It re-sets the computer( I'm not sure exactly what it does, but its more than just shift points) but it turns everything on to MAX OUTPUT !! Whenever I get some Hotshot at a light, that wants to cut in front of me, I just Stage a little deep, and cut a Mean Light, and there's not too many vehicles( even sports cars) that can at run this Tank.
