Stone chips along edge of front fenders

So I have stone chips to the paint on both front fenders where they wrap around to the wheel well. I live on a dirt road and drive slow as shit so as best I can tell, the factory Michelins are retaining rocks and flinging them out once I get up to high speed once I hit pavement. Truck is all factory...so it's not an issue with aftermarket rims and different offset or whatever.

I live in Michigan, so lots of road salt, and I want to get this remedied asap.

Anybody have any possible solutions? I haven't found aftermarket fender flares that look appealing. Debating on looking into Line-x for that leading edge but don't want it to look tacky.

 

Line X would be too expensive. You can buy a can of rubberized spray in black or clear.

Tape off the face of the fender just so you cover the underside of the well.

 

But it's not just the underside, it's on the corner. In other words you can see the chips if standing and looking at the side of the truck.

 

Than a low profile fender flare?

 

Some kinda clear film might be your best bet. It tends to get dirty on the edges if you dont keep up with it though.
Or DIY bed liner. I saw one company actually makes a clear bedliner material now. That may be kinda cool

 

Search for a place that does paint protection film (PPF). Hands down, the BEST thing to protect the paint. If you're up for doing it on your own, xpel is good brand.

Fender flares will also help. But...Painted fender flares are not cheap. Bushwacker, Rough Country, Air-Design are all good brands.
If the flares starting getting chipped, it may be just as frustrating.

I have a set I've yet to put on after I have them covered. I've been waiting on my local paint correction/ppf garage to have an opening...they stay booked months in advance.

I'm about to get to the point where I just buying a roll of the xpel and doing it myself.

 

I bought some of this to put on the front section of my boat trailer to stop the rock chips, it might help with your situation as well. For the price, if it starts looking bad, just redo it.

Low profile fender flairs.

 

Mostaliner if you use DIY bed liner. Much praise on the jeep forums. I did my Cherokee from the door handles down. Doesn't chalk up, fade, or hold dirt like the store bought stuff.
