I'm in the same boat - 37s w/o spare and don't really want to bed-mount or tailgate-mount. I know many have trimmed the tabs and fit a 35 under the bed in the spare mount location. I'm wondering if a deflated 37 would fit under there? I plan on attempting that when I get around to it. Maybe throw a ratchet strap around the tire & crank it a little more narrow to fit between the shackles, too.

I know this is an old post but were you able to make a 37” fit this way?

I’ve seen a couple references of people using a ratchet strap but haven’t seen anyone confirming they were able to do it.

Sorry for the late reply. No, it didn’t even come close to fitting. Airing down & ratchet strap didn’t help at all.

I ended up just mounting it in the bed, on the side, which doesn’t obstruct rearview mirror. I only install it for long trips. Driving around home I keep it in the garage.

It’s not a perfect solution, but it’s pretty darn close for me anyway. I like it. It doesn’t take up all that much room in the bed (not nearly the amount as if it was laying flat), and it’s a decently clean mount.

It’s solid as a rock. Doesn’t budge. The only crappy part is it required me drilling holes in the bed to install the anchors, which I really did not want to do. I’m over it now though. It’s very functional and works really well.

This is the “H” tie-down I used. I’m sure you can get it from other places, I think I had a coupon from Zoro and it was the cheapest:
    https://www.zoro.com/bulldog-winch-vertical-tire-ratcheting-h-tie-down-strap-20362/i/G100972228

    Anchors from Amazon:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07H9ZKRH6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Picked up some grade 8 (I think 1/2”) nuts/bolts. (As you can see in the last picture from underneath, clearly I have to replace them as they’re getting a bit corroded.) Had to drill out the hole in the anchors to fit it. Last pic from underneath - that’s a piece of 1-4” aluminum I used to distribute the pressure when I crank down on the ratchet strap so the bed doesn’t crack.

I added the strap going across the face of the tire just to minimize any movement when turning. It’s probably not needed & does make it look worse, but it’s solid.

Thickest chain/lock I could find in Home Depot to deter theft (with cloth sleeve over chain so it doesn’t scratch up the wheel).
