You lift the bottom up about 30 to 45 degrees. The back rises at the same time and releases the shortened hooks.

When you lift the bottom part of the seat, the top half slightly slides up. The stock bracket holds the top part of the seat in place so that it slides up and down. When you cut it, you allow the seat to come forward when it slides up and lock on the hinge when it slides down. Think of it as some sort of magic!

Ok one last question does it make it a pain in the ass to access the storage under the seat?

No it’s the same. Just have to make sure the seat back is up against the back wall as you drop the bottom back into place. Just so that it hooks again.

This is a great mod! Anyone come up with a clean solution to cover the back of the seat when folded down? My old 2010 CM had fold down with hard molded plastic on back of the seat. Would we great to come up with similar protection.

For those who have done this mod, does the rear seat back stay in the upright position when you lift the seat bottom? Meaning do you have to manually pull the rear seat back down? I'd like this to be the case, so if I add a rifle rack in the back, it won't 'show itself' when I lift the seat bottom.

Yes, if you pull the bottom up, they stay in the upright position.

They rear seat headrests fold down on my 2016 D.C. The middle one doesn't cuz it's a tiny one but the two side ones do. I just remove the center one so I can see out the window but others stay in folded down.

There’s also the method with a hammer. Instead of cutting the brackets on the back of the seat, bend down the hoop on the back wall.

Ooh. Think I’ll cut the hooks. Worst case senario - it’s reversible buy replacing the hooks. :)

And I don’t end up with paint flaking off the back of the cab.

I did the mod on my 07. Hardest part was bolting the seat back in. A friend for about 5 minutes would have been appreciated.

Still pretty easy and totally worth it.

Just did the back seat mod last night...it’s a beautiful thing for sure. Didn’t take long at all and was very simple.
It makes installing seat covers a breeze!!

I may have put the “pro” in “procrastinate” on this project, but I just might be one of the cool kids now. I tried to trim 15/16” off, hoping for a bit of a “detent” effect to have to pull the seat back past, but by the time they were smoothed off and evened out with a 4.5” flap wheel they were closer to 1” trimmed and clear the loops completely.

The seat backs stay nicely against the back wall unless you pull them forward anyway, so that’s a moot point.

I just have to vacuum under / behind the storage box before reinstalling it and re-organize all my crap and :smokertransformer: :bananadance:

There, toys cleaned up and put away. Mom would be proud.

Nice easy access to my tow strap, Viair 85P, booster cables and tarp, and still room for a couple of rifles in soft cases.

I keep my collapsible fishing pole back there! Never know when you need to fish. Also a machete fits in the backing of the double seat. I picked up a cheapo from Harbor freight. Plus I have multiple things back there. I’m one of those that is always ready to go swimming so I keep swimming trunks. Along with a rain jacket as well as a full rain suit. Don’t forget about a portable compressor LOL

My 2007 CM has tons of room behind the rear seats depending on how far forward you slide the seats. Both seats fold forward down to flat already. My rear seats are the 60/40 split with huge armrest. I would love a quick disconnect option to remove seats for those two man hunting road trips.

I think it would take the entire seat to be changed. But because of the drop down glass window on the CM, I would think mounting the loops would be very difficult. And the seat heights are different because the floor is raised on the CM.

Instead of starting a new thread, I'll add to this one..
I did this mod this week, it was what I was doing when I stripped the bolts in my other thread.

I figured I'd take some pics and show y'all how much room is back there.
I keep three jackets in my truck:
    Work rain jacket
    Work zip up hoodie
A Cabela's zip up hoodie for my wife because she gets cold in restaurants.

I used to keep them under the passenger's side small seat on the floor and they all get covered in dog hair.
They are now bungeed to the back of that seat.
There isn't a lot of room back there, but enough to store or hide things.

I bought these 4 hooks 3 or 4 years ago on my old forum and never installed them.
They've been sitting in my Tundra storage box in my attic.

Wish I'd seen this thread when it came out, I would have just hammered the rear wall hooks down.
It would have been a lot easier to hammer those hooks down than to remove the torx screws out of these hooks out of the seat back.
Although my luck the rear window would have broken...

I think there are thread on cutting those stock hooks to accomplish this mod.

    In the beginning..

    Both seats down.
Had to put the front seats forward a bit because of the head rests.

Three folded jackets, bungeed to the lower part of the seat back.
    I keep hers wrapped up..

That seat folded up, to show clearance..

How much room is really back there..

    (edited)_234lgqfs_c23ce2a45eecf3e6b9c07ff96028f8b83acfe4fb.jpg

I don't keep a gun back there (yet), these pics are just for reference.
I could put one of 870s back there if I put the folding stock on..

Could easily fit my beater pistol grip Mossberg..
You could make or mod just about anything and attach it to those seat rods.

Got all my room back to stash her purse or whatever..

That looks good I put a breaker bar wrapped in a ski mask in between one the seat rods. I attached a organizer to the back wall of the truck I’ll upload some pics later but good spot for spare jackets/blankets

I had the underseat storage both oem and duha but I needed to use the floor board again for my dog and prefer the clean look.

    I like that..
Under my driver's side is taken up with my Stealthbox.
I may rig something like that to put stuff into and get it out of the front seat pockets..
You can see here where I used to keep my jackets.

One more pic I took yesterday.
With the seat bottom flooded up, whatever room you have behind the set greatly diminishes..
Might be good to know if you're planning on doing this..
