I wasn't even looking for shoes but these were on the 'Sale' rack at Nordstrom's. Clearly retro these shoes were the footwear of choice for my compadre some 45 years ago.
He's deceased now but I bought these to wear in his honor. The right shoes in the right size and at the right price ~ I couldn't pass them up.

Yeah I made the mistake one day of going down the reddit /r/goodyearwelt rabbit hole. They are really really comfortable though

Don't mean to thread jack, but I'm considering investing in a pair of red wings. Are they worth it?

Probably depends on which model, but general consensus seems to be yes

I'm looking at red wings myself, but might go wolverine 1000 mile or something more exotic like viberg instead

I've been slowly replacing my office shoes with higher quality pieces and found this pair of old Florsheim gunboats off ebay. Doing a mild retouching and they should be good for years. The wear actually looks more from sitting in storage, maybe under some stuff versus actual wear. Not bad for $25.

I like those, almost bought a pair of shoes just like them last month but didn't have my size.

I was looking at Florsheim recently, they have a few styles I really like for the office. I have a hard time finding office shoes because I don't like any lift in the heel. I sometimes think I should start designing dress shoes for dudes and get rid of a few common traits I don't like.
