Unfortunately surgery is your best bet, followed by plenty of physical therapy. Best of luck with your rehab!

Just had shoulder surgery 2 weeks ago myself. Mine was a little different though....subacromial decompression and cleaned up two tendons which had some fraying. Also shaved 4mm off the bone to make more room because everything was getting pinched in there from inflammation. Just completed 1 week of physical therapy today and 4 more to go. Surgery went very well and recovery seems to be a piece of cake. My range of motion is not the best yet, but PT should get it back to normal. Agree w/above, surgery is probably best bet to fix.

Surgery is the best option. Leaving it to heal on its own will take a very long time. Which opens up the can of worms of injuring it again much more probable.

@BIGUGLY That's what I was wondering... just curious if anyone has ever had the surgery but wish they hadn't because they still had issues just different ones afterwards.
Well, my Orthopedic Dr is very knowledgeable and came highly recommended so I'm having surgery next week. So we shall see

Yes, I had a torn rotator cuff and torn bicep. Had surgery on January 17th and am now in my third week of PT. I have at least five more weeks of therapy. I have three anchors holding the rotator cuff in place and one metal anchor holding the bicep in place.

I also had a quarter inch of my clavicle shaved off due to the impingement and two bone spurs removed.

Like others said, PT is the key to recovery. It’s painful as hell but that’s the only way to get your mobility back. This is my second torn rotator cuff.

Surgery is your only option period. It’s going to climb down your arm and reattach itself.

If it is just the bicep torn at the to toward shoulder you really never have to fix it, as per mt ortho dr. Tore mine last year. If it is torn down by the elbow get it done ASAP. I had to get an mri to see if my rotator cuff was torn, thankfully it is not. I will get the bicep fixed eventually.

The distal biceps tendon is what attaches the bicep at the elbow. His bicep is bunched up because it’s a complete rupture. This cannot heal on its own. In fact if you leave it it the body will absorb the left over tendon. That said you don’t “need” your bicep intact in day to life but I’m of the opinion that it came it that way from the factory so it should stay in operation.

    Physical Therapy is a joke.
went to one due to a serious back injury.

at 50 bucks per session, he said..

this exercise will simulate sweeping & raking
    this exercise will simulate digging
this one will simulate climbing a latter

    after a couple sessions.. I said f-this
    I went home & every day, I..

raked the yard, dug a hole & climbed my latter
