So... @Rockanock, most everyone here is answering up about mounting options. This sums up what I've learned on here:
This is a cool idea; I'd like to know more, if anyone does it:
As far as the cube lights go, in addition to Baja Designs, I picked up a set from Black Oak LED. Veteran owned company with 50k lifetime hours on par with BD. I haven't read much about them on this forum but it seems they're a staple with the Jeep crowd and other off-roaders. Very well-rated at comparatively reasonable prices.

Someday when I get blacked out mirror covers I will experiment with the chrome ones.

Cool idea but I would expect the plastics to melt in no time.

I belive that could be overcome easily with beer or vodka.

Hmmmmm. I now have a 2019 SR5 with the power adjust, non-tow, non-folding mirrors. I used to have a 2007 and a 2011 SR5 with the same power adjust, non-folding, non-tow mirrors that I replaced several times. The ones on my 2019 look very similar and I know that there was a good bit of room in the prior ones, but I don't know if there's enough depth in the housing to get a flush-mount cube to actually mount flush.
That being said, I bet there'd be some interest in an aftermarket version of this concept if the pair's price tag didn't have a comma in it.

Sorry, it’s been awhile since I’ve bought these, but if I remember correctly, they only have 1 ditch light bracket. They do sell the low profile brackets for the pods. My pods’ brackets could be flipped backwards, which lowers them like the low profiles. But that only works with my lights. If it didn’t work, I would’ve gotten the low profile kit as they normally sit really high.

I believe that you can modify or find a LED that has a tolerable heat range for the housing. Just waiting for someone to turn the choke on and pull the cord.

Question of the light wiring. I purchased the Rago light brackets with Rigid D2 pod lights I had off my old rig. For those using the like factory open switch marked ditch lights. The rigid have 3 wire the switch has 4 how did these get wired? I can get the switch to illuminate but the lights won’t work. Sorry to high jack but it’s all related. TIA

I attached my ditch lights to the side mirrors. I didn't integrate it into the mirror, but close enough. I call it the "5-0." So far I really like it. As you point out there's no glare on the hood, and my view from the driver's seat is completely unobstructed. I now get a nice wide area lit up in front of me. Because they are not sitting on the hood I have them pointed nice and low so I can see rocks coming my way when crawling.

To install it I removed the side view mirrors, drilled a whole through the plastic facade and aluminum frame, and bolted the lights in threw that, tightening the nut from the back side of the mirror. I then had to notch out a couple places in the frame to let the wire pass through.
