Looking at picking up a new Tundra. This site seems to have a lot of experience for that.
    :)

Seems like a lot of folks still get a bed mat of some type to protect the floor even with a spray on bed liner. I would think that a $500 liner would hold up to normal abuse without the mat.

Otherwise why wouldn't folks Plasticote (or pick your brand) themselves and then use a mat? I'm thinking you could touch up any sidewall scratches yourself that way and not have to fight with warranty work (is/isn't covered due to your usage blah, blah, blah....)

I realize I might be overly frugal here but $500+mat seems to be overkill verses $80+mat+my time. Opinions??

Most diy bedliner jobs look like a 10 year old did it and won’t be as durable nor last as long as Linex. If that doesn’t bother you, go for it. And you really don’t need a bed mat with Linex. Personally, that $300 difference isn’t worth having an inferior product that looks bad and wastes a couple of days of my time.

I'm all about DIY and saving money but sometimes you just have to fork out the cash to have a good, long lasting product. You're spending a lot of coin on a new tundra, don't skimp out on the bed liner. Good luck!

I have a spray in bed liner. Must have IMO. However, I recently purchased and put in a bed mat for 1 reason only... To keep things from sliding around and I must say the bed mat does wonders in that area. Was cut off yesterday (train horns coming soon) and when I got home I immediately looked in the back to see what moved and nothing moved a centimeter. Since the lift, its harder to reach over the side and more of a hassle to climb in the back of the truck (do to my laziness) to grab things so being able put something at the end of the bed and it still be there when you get to your destination is well worth it. I got the bed mat on a tremendous discount plus free shipping from a code I found in the group buy section of this forum so that makes me like it even more. Moral of the story, bed liner highly recommended, bed mat a luxury that's well worth it for its function.

    Welcome from SE PA!
I have LineX and love it. I also have the bed mat so that things don't slide around quite as much as without it.

Do the line-ex. Pay the professional to do it right. Will look way better than rattlecan crap.

This. Rattle can will look like the $30 you spent to do it. AKA, it will look like shit. Spend the money.

There are many YouTube videos on this. They compared all different kinds of sprayed in liners. The results were amazing. If you don't prepare the bed correctly it's a waste of time and money. The hand-can was the worst but cheapest, brushed in was not bad. But like others said you get what you pay for.

Personally I think a hand sprayed DIY liner would look like crap. Get LineX and forget the mat. I opted for the LineX and put a Bed Rug down.
