Do I need any sort of diff drop to go 1in higher

    So I drive a 17 TRD Pro and want about 1 more inch of ride height, anyone know if ill need a to drop the diff any?

    Not really. I was at 3.5 for a long time and did have one but it's really not necessary. It's better, IMO, to put the wear on the CVs than on the diff. Changing the angle on the diff (adding the diff drop) just might be worse than (and more expensive to repair) than putting the strain on the CVs. The diff drop is super easy to install so if you really don't like the way your CVs look after the lift, then install one.

    I lifted mine 2.5" with 6112's and got a bunch of noise (growl, light knocking) in the driver's side CV/shaft assembly. The noise decreased a good 50% after installing the diff drop, so the improved CV angles helped. However I can only assume the problem existed prior to the lift, but got amplified as a result. It's going in for 4.88 gear install next week, so I'll have the shop diagnose and resolve the issue then. Guessing it's the needle bearing.
