Hi Matt, I just came across this thread today. Read quite a few of these posts, and quite informative. Congratulations on your certificate a year ago.

I've had the PSA test for years now, and being 68 now, I have an enlarged prostrate but no cancer. My dad had the slow going cancer and never went in for treatment. He passed a couple of years ago at 95.

My urologist said 80% of men will have prostrate cancer at 80 years old.

So far I'm doing good, but another parameter that showed up on tests this last time was a % free value. I have not seen this discussed, sorry if I am duplicating a post. Anyways this was my test last fall.

Watch out for the ice, gravity speeds up when you get older...

I hope this sheds some light on this subject.

Luck has been wished. Definitely seem to run in the family. Treatments are pretty good. So far in my case......still sucks.

The PSA Free % is obviously moot in my case but I'm currently maintaining less than 0.1 ng/ml. I get checked every month. Good news so far.

When I was getting my 40 freaking radiation treatments I was actually younger than a lot of the guys getting radiation and I was 62 then. The radiation helps them survive long enough to die of something else like old age. In many cases that's true. Hopefully I get completely cured. Not too ancient yet. My cancer is very aggressive.

Got my results today. Prostate enlarged but PSA levels perfect. Testosterone perfect. Dr said the only problem was low LDL so do more cardio. :muscleflexing:

Just a side note, and a little off topic - but I had some issues urinating for a few months and it scared the shit out of me (took more effort to pee).
Took a while to figure out it was the multiple allergy pills I was taking.
After I stopped, within a few weeks I had no issue at all.

Yeah I agree. Running hurts my knees and ankles and it's boring to me. Sometimes I walk an incline treadmill just to keep my heart rate up above 140 for 30min but lately I reduced the amount of weights I was lifting and increased the reps and lowered intermissions between them. According to my Garmin fitness tracker that kept me between 130-150 for a solid 45min. I'm 48 and still play 2 games of softball on Friday nights. They keep me around for the long ball. Chicks dig the long ball.

Had my monthly checkup yesterday. I already knew my bloodwork results were normal but I told my doc that I've been abnormally irritable and hyper lately. I even gave @ColoradoTJ a hard time the other night. My blood pressure got checked and it was super elevated. It's been high since I went on the meds. Going back to doc today to get the super high blood pressure remedied and my first Prolia injection. Good news... only a couple more months to go and I'm off the Zytiga/Predisone which is messing me up for almost 2 years now.

Got my last batch of pills. Yeah. Strange but this last batch is generic Zytiga. I would assume price would be lower than the usual $30K for a 90 day supply now that there is a generic version. I'm only taking the pills for March and April then done!

That's good news for sure. I'm going on almost two years now and monthly PSA always comes back <.1 That needs to stay there after I get off Zytiga. Fingers crossed.

UPDATE>>>>Just left my urologist. Everything going as planned. OFF THE DRUGS!! :benchpress::muscleflexing::militarypress::censored:yeah!!
Will be nice to have testosterone again. The goal now is to continue bloodwork every 6 weeks for now to monitor PSA level. Needs to stay below <.1. Stays that way......cancer is defeated. Beer time......:smokertransformer:

I'd like to think the worst is over. 2 years of no testosterone. Sort of sucked but needed to starve the cancer if any cells survived the radiation. I'm still going to get 6 month Prolia injection for another year. The Zytiga did a number on my bones but what was the alternative???

Those treatments are no joke at all! My father is 2 time cancer survivor. First being stage 2 prostate at 65 years old, and esophageal cancer at 72 (last January). His prostate cancer was linked to Agent Orange in Vietnam via the V.A., which qualified him for a prostatectomy by robotic surgery (DaVinci Method), dodging radiation and chemo. His PSA is now lower than mine several years later.... I'm 36.
His second bout being esophageal cancer last January. Within a 3 month period, he lost 60lbs while going through radiation and chemo, only taking calories by abdominal feeding tube. He could no longer move, nor talk, sleeping 23 hours a day. During this period, I slept on the floor next to his bed so I could manually pump homemade meals into him. We found all the veggies and supplements that best combat the effects of cancer/chemo/radiation and combined them into an injectable meal for his tube, 4 times a day. We chose to stop radiation and chemo for fear of death after 9 of 15 treatments, and went forward with surgery. In the end, he lost his stomach completely, 1/2 of the esophagus, and 1/3 of the diaphragm. His esophagus is attached directly to his upper intestines. He's now 100% cancer free, with a 100% pathological response. I'm currently living with him to relearn to eat and walk again. After all was said and done, chemo and radiation were far more damaging than the actual cancers or surgeries. It is literally designed to kill you from a cellular level....but thankfully we have options like these available.
You can do this, you're on the uptick now! Finish out those treatments with the amazing attitude (and fortitude) you have, keep the hydroxy 25 (Vit D) tests coming to combated osteoporosis. Also consider something similar to 'Athletic Greens' and high doses of 100% full spectrum CBD oil.

    We're with ya Matt!

Your Dad has gone thru a lot. Tough old fart! I could have tried to save my prostate with chemo but not really an alternative. Was too far gone and I don't plan on having kids at my age. DaVinci and localized radiation seems to have done the trick....oh, and 2 years of Zytiga and steroids....sheesh.
