Krown Rust protection. It’s a yearly application and costs $150. Actually have an appointment Monday for it.

I use fluid film. Used to get aerosol cans and do it that way but this year I went and bought a full kit with sprayer and a gallon of fluid film. I'll be trying that out in the coming weeks. Needs to be reapplied every year

I had to throw in the towel on my '01 silverado after 17 winters b/c of rust. Vowed never to never let a vehicle rot like that again.

I bought the fluidfilm kit below and did my chassis/undercarriage/body panels/rockers/doors/tailgate/engine compartment. I used almost a gallon. That wand for the aerosol can is awesome for getting into the door weep holes and outer rockers.
SMA demo's the same kit that I used:

I just did mine last night with Amsoil. Don't forget your coveralls, mask, gloves and lots of beer. If you decide to use Amsoil try to find longer stem tube and a spray cap the tube will stay in place. Going to snow tomorrow and I'm sure if it smells like snow and its 45° them dumb Fkers will be salting the roads. Sorry for the rant but they really are dumb Fkers! Opps i did it agian sorry.

I've used all of the aforementioned treatments with good results from all of them. I had a 10 year old Maxima that was Ziebart Undercoated and also went with the Ziebart Diamond Gloss finish. Still looked great when I sold it.

The last two vehicles (2007 Z71 and 2010 CRV) were Krowned. The CRV looks great but the Z71 was showing sings of being a GM product and had some rusty bleed through around fenders and cab corners. Still have the CRV.

My 2014 Infiniti Q50S was Fluid Filmed by me and is preserved for an occasional drive on a dry day in the winter months but mainly stays in the shop over the winter. Keep that Fluid Film away from your MAF sensor! I know from experience.

I had my 2018 SR5 DC TRD Offroad Ziebarted just like the Maxima. It is all in how the product is applied, the condition of the vehicle when it is applied, the thickness of the product when sprayed, etc. Did the vehicle already see salt exposure? Was the vehicle wet when the product was applied? Was it filthy? Many variables especially the person doing it.

I had my 2015 Tacoma about 3.5 years. I did nothing with it as far as rust protection other than running it through a carwash that had an under-spray a lot after winter and never had any issue. Had my 2007 Tacoma almost exactly 8 years. First year I had it I had something done, I think it might have been Ziebart which I wouldn't recommend. Never had it touched up after that first application, but never had serious rust issues with that truck either. Also have a 2013 Impreza over 5.5 years old now, no issues underneath and never had anything done to it. All of these vehicles sit out year-round, never parked in a garage.

Bought my Tundra mid summer. So far I've done nothing to it either. This thread has me considering it just in case, but I'll likely end up doing nothing.

To the OP - if you're anywhere near Buffalo, go with Carwell (carwell.com). I got mine done and have heard nothing but good things from others who have used them.

I’ve used krown in the past. I traded in my 2011 f150 for the tundra last week. No rust on it so I’m sticking to,what I know works. Living in snow belt area they use a lot of salt and brine. I brought my tundra platinum from the dealership straight to krown. Been using it since 1990.

Salt and brine is BRUTAL here in Vermont. For less than $100 shipped you can get 1 gallon of Fluid Film and the applicator gun which was enough to coat both my son's and my Tundras.

Fluid film helps and takes around 3 quarts for a truck; but the other treatments mentioned are good if applied well. Ziebart done well on a new vehicle can be good if reapplied yearly; just don't allow holidays to form in the coating. No experience with Krown but hear good things.

Check this product out. NH Oil Undercoating. Unlike Fluid Film it is actually Oil based (mineral oil) instead of lanolin and doesn’t wash out with water. I had a Tacoma and did the Ziebart route but found it to flake off over time. Sprayed this Back N Black product on and it looked great. Got the new Tundra done with thier Wax N Oil treatment. So far so good.

Any annual rust prevention coat works. I used fog oil. Fluid Film is good. Don't waste your time or money on under coat because salt seeps through and rots the metal under it. That's why you see under coat peeling on older cars

My case of Amsoil MPHD came in last week. It is less $$$ per ounce than fluid film or CRC SP-400. At this point I've used all of the DIY corrosion prevention sprays.
-Amsoil dries to the best finish, can't be removed with water or mild detergents, and isn't sticky.
-CRC- dries (mostly), but is still somewhat sticky, attracts dust and sand, can't be removed with water or mild detergents. Cost more than Amsoil.
-Fluid Film- Basically never dries, attracts sand and dust, washes off with extended road spray or repeated submersion. Cost more than Amsoil.

If you have it in your area Rustop is the same idea as krown. However it is thicker and still gets into all the nooks and crannies.Lifetime guarantee, Supposed to be applied every year however every other year is more than adequate.

Im going to spray Fluid Film over the crappy Ziebart job that was done to my vehicle at the dealer. Ziebart was a mistake, when I leave NY in 2 winters from now I'm going to scrape off the Ziebart.
