Would love not to have to hear the damn thing when I'm listening to the radio and have the driver's door open. Any suggestions?

On my 2010 ,I unhooked the White Connector(there's only one) behind the steering wheel shroud to silence the 'dinger'. What I lost(or gained) though, was being able to lock Driver's Side Door WITH the key in ignition, so that's part of the trade-off. My key stays in the ignition most of the time anyway, so it didn't matter to me. On a newer truck, this is all probably a moot point though:confused:

I believe your dealer can do it or you can do it with TechStream

I saw years ago a small metal piece attached with a screw that slides over the switch. I think it was in JC Witney catalog

this ^ works on 2015 and prob up
just turn the steering wheel, remove the two screws that hold the lower plastic cover of the column surround, disconnect the wire from the bottom of the ignition tumbler. done. enjoy the peace.

What do you mean you lost the ability to lock the driver side door while key is in the ignition? So the door lock button doesn’t work on the door once you do this? That would be a terrible result

^^Good question, and also the cover on my 2019 is one solid piece. It doesn't come apart in the center. Seems like I'd have to pull the entire steering wheel to get it off. Am I looking at it wrong somehow?

you do not need to remove the steering wheel, the trim is removable around the column

if you unplug the key sensor you lose the chime, and you will be able to lock yourself out of your truck while the keys are in the ignition.

As my 2010 came stock, the Driver's Side door wouldn't lock, if the key was in the ignition(not a bad feature) After unhooking the connector and disabling the 'dinger', all doors lock, even with the key in the switch.

Duh. Of course you're right. I was looking at the wrong mold line in the plastic. Halves came apart just as you said, white connector pulled and no more chime. Thank you!

You can't lock the doors with the keys in the ignition. You didn't lose that feature because you never had it.

But, yeah the Tech Stream program will give you what you want...mostly.

You can turn off the seatbelt chime completely.

You can only turn the key in the ignition/open door minder to it's quietest setting. They come from the factory at their loudest unfortunately.

techstream will not turn off key in the ignition chime with door open. OP isnt asking about seatbelt.
locking logic has been discussed above in this thread. What @Cement shows is the way to disable the key chime.

Like I posted. On my 2010, it came stock with driver's side door staying unlocked, if a key is in the switch. After unhooking the connector, ALL DOORS are locked WITH key in switch. YES,that feature was lost with the chime/dinger....on my 2010. Am I not explaining this clearly enough:confused:

FWIW: after pulling the white connector, with the driver's door open, my doors WILL NOT lock with the key in and turned to Accessory. My doors WILL lock with the key in and in the key-lock position. Maybe that's part of the confusion?

Also FWIW I used Carista to do the same as TechStream will (TechStream kept crashing when I tried to use it. Didn't feel like screwing with TS when Carista does the same jobs I was looking to do, and with the same diagnostics, but with my phone and tiny dongle that'll live in the truck rather than a cable and laptop needed for TS). Carista also allows you to quiet down the chime, but its still louder than I care to hear so the white connector pull works best for me.

I can only speak about my 2010. After choosing which "Customizable Features" I wanted done from my Owner's Manual. I made an appointment with my dealership's service department and their Tech Stream Guy. 90 minutes later, I was rolling out with my list completed. Even back then, there was post after post on all the Forums, telling how dealers weren't budging on The "Federal Mandate" of "[A] Seatbelt Warning Must Remain." My dealership's Service Manager, being one who had a grasp of the English Language, realized that the text stated "A" seatbelt warning. We have a flashing light AND a chime, the Flashing Light remained and the chime went away....A Seatbelt Warning remained. As of yet, myself and the Service Manager, have both managed to stay out of Federal Prison!

Carista takes care of it (iOS / Android app + wireless OBD adapter ($20, tops)). Or Tech Stream (plus an OBD cable).

Any reason not to unplug the plunger at the door frame. Seems to do the same thing as steering column approach.

Can use door button to lock doors with truck running but have to use an actual key in door handle to unlock.

Door chime fix...I took out the screw that holds the rubber button in the door frame and replaced it with a plastic drywall insert. This disables the wire ( ground) and still keeps the rubber button attached to the frame. You do lose the lights on when the door opens with this fix...just this door tho.
Seat belt chime...I purchased two seat belt extenders) chime.eliminators ($10) and voila. ..no more chime! Good luck...

I unhooked this connector on my 14 ,model and it disabled my steering wheel motor. Gonna plastic the door jamb screw, disable the ground.

On my truck it is just for tilt and retract. If you unground the jamb switch works same way.

Just an update I took the metal screw out of each door jamb switch and put plastic push pins in place of the OEM metal screws. The switch is made to ground by the metal inside the screw placement. So, no more grounded door jamb switch and no more chimes. It was the only and easiest way to keep the steering wheel tilt motor working. Now if I could only get the seat belt chime to shut off?!
