Does anyone know of some online forums that focus on trails and overlanding? It is just catching on really hard down here in the southeast, and i'm trying to get involved. Would love to use 4 wheel drive sometime other than just duck hunting season. We have some pretty crazy rock crawling trails around here, but figure it would be nice to meet people who know of some more moderate trails that make a good weekend trip. Any info is appreciated!

Expedition Portal is the best place I've seen online so far. I frequent there mainly to see how crazy some rigs get.

The Aussies have been into "over landing" for decades. Hence ARB/OME. Long before the current fad here in USA. The Aussies aren't too much concerned about blacking out chrome/badges and other inane non relevant, super high lift, temporary fads that some get caught up with here in the USA. Survival takes precedence in the "out back". Comes with the territory. I'd Google Aussie sites. 4X4 Earth.com or..Example: http://aussieoverlanders.com.au/sydney-overland-talk/

Overlandbound forums are good to peruse also. You don't have to be a member (I am not) to join the forums but good info on there.

Great core group there - was one of the very early members, mod and admin back well over a decade ago before overlanding was a mainstream thing and a roof top tent was something you had to import from Africa. I remember working with a few folks back then on a North American relevant definition of expedition and overlanding.

@Black Wolf hit the nail on the head. The Australians do more serious expeditions and in my opinion are more oriented to function than style. The forums are already mentioned so here is a guy on youtube with a great channel to check out, lots of good content and quite enjoyable to watch.

We have some isolated places here in NA but nothing like the outback.
