If you need the 6th seat just get a Transfer Flow, unless you are in California. I personally love my buckets but then again I'm only 6' and don't need the knee room.

Toyota is completely stupid with the way they create and restrict the ability to order certain features on certain trucks. And they wonder their market share stays flat.

38 gal swap is super easy.... can be done in 6-8 hours once you have all the parts... Im going to post a thread on a how to... bottom line is its a little pricy say 16-1800$ but totally worth it.

Stand by for that thread soon.

Please update this thread when you post it! Would love to see it.

As for some closure-- I ended up going with the smaller fuel tank. I actually don't drive much (work from home), so I'm concerned that the TransferFlow 46 gallon would result in gas just sitting there and getting old.

There are two different safes for our split bench when I purchased mine there was only one but I got the model: LD2049. The other one is the EXxtreme. It cost $269.00 but I got the abloy lock with two keys so it’s a $60 upgrade. They have a 4 digit combination lock that’s standard. I put my own magnet for my pistol. Everything after tax for came out to $356.14. Overall it comes in handy and is easy to install.

What's the purpose of the magnet for the pistol? So it doesn't slosh around inside the box?

Tank. I don’t want anyone riding pole position. No skiing in my truck! I really can’t stand having anyone right next to me when I’m driving. If I need the capacity I’ll buy a mini van.

Pretty much I had got a two pack from Amazon and stuck it with some double sided mounting tape.

Hey, I see you're in CA, but was under the impression this tank mod is not legal here. :notsure: Did you do it yourself, or have it done? Have you passed a smog inspection afterward?

The 38 gal stock Ca approved tank is the only option that has passed emissions and all emissions control functions still intact, it’s a stock Toyota part so no issues as long as it’s not modified you are fine but the transfer flow is not legal in Cali

Awesome. Thanks for debunking this long-time rumour.

I'll check your thread to learn whether there's diminished above-ground clearance. Thanks, @papasmurf!

I have the 38 gallon. I'm curious about the Transferflow after-market. I thought I read @jonpera modded to have the huge 46 gallon tank. In Fontana, CA.

I have a 2013 crewmax, the transfer flow was $1500 after shipping. The clearance is actually better than the stock tank believe it or not!

Yes 46 gallon is nice. I had to ship it to AZ then go pick it up. Since CA doesn’t want more of my tax dollars from all the gas I could fill up.
