Looking for a recommendation; I’ve got a 2018 SR5 (stock). Still have the original stock tires with 20k and plenty of tread left, but am shopping for good tires. I had Toyo Open Country A/T II light truck tires on a Superduty Powerstroke and they wore very well and had very good dry/wet/snow traction on a 8,000lb truck.

I’m looking at the same Toyo tires based on my experience. Also considering Nitto Ridge and Terra Grapplers. Thoughts between the three?

Thoughts on P or LT tires?

Stock suspension/18” TRD wheels and no plans to lift, but may eventually put 5100s on to level the front end. Daily driver mostly pavement but also want capability options. Currently in Charleston SC but will move who knows where next summer.

    Okay...GO!

    Lost track after #1.
Passenger tires (P) usually can't hold the load for a truck. They're just not built for that. Go with LT.

Toyo AT’s have good wet traction? Really?
Mine slip a good bit in wet conditions. Next tires will be chosen according to better wet traction.

I have had 2 sets of Terra Grapplers. Put 60k on each with tread still usable. Much longer lasting than other AT tires I have had. They also make a load rated version.

I used to love BFG AT’s but the Terra Grappler is my new number 1

I liked my toyos as well but had the same issues going through the hills at moderately low speeds when it rained... other than that I liked them.

Don’t get me wrong, I like my Toyo’s, the wet traction issue is my only hangup. As much as it rains down here, I need wet traction though! LOL

Have about 17k miles on my Ridge Grapplers - they're great. Minimal sound on highway, too, considering they have decently aggressive tread. They slip a little on wet asphalt, but that's just from a stop...considering there's very little weight in the rear, it's no big deal to me. I'd definitely buy them again.

I've got Nitto RG LT275/70r18 definitely go LT, the stock P-metric tires were showing quite a bit of wear at 20k and I got a couple of flats (2 screws but one just on gravel road). I put my tires on at 22k and am at 35k. and they look good. I was considering Toyo MT or Nitto Trail Grappler but didn't feel that I needed that aggressive of a tire. The RG do slip a little from a stop on wet pavement but it's not bad. We just got some pretty good ice with snow on top and the did well enough. I'm satisfied with them for sure.

Right now, I have stock Suspension suspension. I bought big tires and wheels when I bought my truck last May 2018. I have 275/55R/20 Toyo open country tires and 20x9 Moto Metal wheels with 0 offsets. And they are aggressive and 1 inch outside fenders. They are pretty good for stock Suspension suspension. I am thinking to level or 6 inch lift my truck within next 1 or 2 months. And if I lift it I would sell them for $1800. I bought them for $2500. They have 10,000 miles on them. And it would easily last for another 40k-50k miles. Let me know if you interested.

Again, mine were on a truck that weighed more than a ton more than this Tundra. Unloaded. I routinely bumper pulled a 12k travel trailer. So, in my experience with a much heavier vehicle, they performed in wet. A lighter truck (especially with stiffer sidewalled LT tires may not fare as well)

Oh, and that 70k mile warranty!

My wife’s uncle got the same tires on a Ford F-350. He has the same issue, although it only happens without anything in the bed, so that may be the culprit.

I’m loving the 70k warranty! (I’m also kicking myself because now I’m jonesing for 34-35” tires, but instead, I’m stuck with 275/70 for another 40k miles LOL)

I ran toyo At for 3 years. Traction was incredible. I definitely will buy another set in the future.

My bfg At’s currently are garbage in the rain compared to the toyos

I had toyo at2’s on a chevy 1/2 ton. They were embarrassing in wet snow. Would never buy them again.

Have never ran Toyos or Trail Grapplers, but have LT295/70R18 Ridge Grapplers now and am a big fan. Haven't had any issues with grip on wet/icy/snowy roads so far. They also seem to be wearing well at current tire pressure as well.

Ive run both nitto in 37” and now toyo in 35” not on the tundra. Both performed well no issues, the yoyos were easier to balance seemed to be more consistently round. Im planning on using toyo on the tundra build

I have my choices narrowed down to the Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT or Nitto Ridge Grappler. I have 32k miles on my KO'2 so I have a little while to decide. I hate how the BFG's perform on wet roads and how they pick up every rock on the road and sling it under the truck.

Looks good! How do they handle wet roads and are they very loud on the highway?

Very quiet, just did a 400 Mile trip. Wet handling is fantastic, much better than the TOYA AT2's I had previously
