dumb Questions

Forgive me guys I know next to nothing when it comes to suspension. I have a new 2016 tundra, put bilstein 5100s on the top setting in the front with the help of a friend (i.e. He did most of the work while I kept him company). Anyways, I have a few questions:
1. From what I understand I don't need a diff drop for just a 2.5" lift right?
2. Adding shims in the front would give me a little extra height yes? (I assume I would need a diff drop with any more height)
3. I don't need to mess around with any shackles or blocks or anything else in the rear correct? I basically just want the truck a hair higher in front and don't want to mess with rear height.

 

1. You do not need a differential drop, but it's a cheap insurance. I would still get it.

2. Coachbuilder shims are 0.25 inches thick but will give you 1/2 inch lift in the front. They were originally intended to correct the side-to-side leaning on Tundras (most Tundras are lower on the driver side). But some use them to give a slight lift. Definitely get the diff drop if you go this route.

3. Correct. My truck was just about 2 inches higher in the rear So with OME 3.5 inches and 1.5 inches in the rear, I am just about level. With Bilstein 5100 at the top setting, you may not have to do anything more to achieve the look (depending high much higher you want the front end to be).

If you get shims on tops of the Bilstein set up, you may need to get a set of upper control arms. Just to keep that in mind.

 

I put two shims on top of each of my 5100's in front. Don't need UCA's and my alignment was spot on.
I have the 5100's in the rear and also put in CB +2 shackles for 1.25" of lift. My rear is right about 0.5" higher than the front which is exactly what I wanted.
