I ended up not camping last weekend so I didn't get the chance to tow the trailer. I'm still driving it as hard as I can on roads around town and still no cel. I should have time this weekend to really push it and see if it comes on.

Would the software recognize that it was plugged into the computer? When I first plugged mine in it would even show up as being plugged in. I just kept trying and it finally worked.

It would show up in the device manager. Even the update software recognized it but it wouldn't update. Failed every time. Tried three different computers. I was on the phone with hypertech for 45 minutes. Then the guy told me the code meant it was defective and needed to be replaced.

That's crazy... I don't know him personally, but just being a vendor here and based on his reputation, I'm sure it wasn't defective when he took it off his truck. I wonder if you sent it back to him, he could have them warranty it and send you the warrantied one.

Not that you did anything to it. Just making the case that he wouldn't do you wrong.

I've had the hyper tech on my '16 - 5.7 - 4x4 Tundra for several month. I started off with a light lift, 3/2 and 285s then went to a 5 inch lift with 35x12.50s and now I am at 7 1/2 with 37x13.50 on 10 inch wheels - added the hyper tech inline speedo calibrator which has also helped with the transmission shift points. Honestly, I cannot really feel a big enough difference in any power loss due to the extra sized tires and weight which has to be attributed to the hyper tech products on my truck. FYI, also have the pedal module in place; I've adjusted to it as it does feel like it requires a little more pressure needing to applied to the pedal but I feel that it smooths the acceleration out and really works to keep the RPMS at or under the 2k mark which I would assume would help with MPGs as if that is really a reasonable factor when you go with 37s. Overall, I think it helps even at a modest level but apparently enough to offset added weight and rotational force to the truck.

I did one time and it was due to a bent pin in the connector at the air intake. I called Hypertech and they sent me a replacement unit and haven't had a single issue since. I take it all off every time I go to the dealer for routine service intervals, I'm now at 10k miles then put it all back on after with no issues.

Quick update after my first trip to coast with TT. I ran about 65 the whole way down, about 150 miles, with rpm at 3k the whole time. At some times I'd hit 4k rpm on hills. No CEL light. So until it comes back on, if it does at all, I have concluded my review.

That's awesome news. I'll have to save again for a while and get a new one. I'm looking forward to getting one on my truck. Thanks for the keeping us updated.

Did you put the pedal sensor in or just go back to stock intake to fix cel issue?

What is the difference with the pedal sensor? Does it make it less powerful?

The pedal sensor makes the throttle less sensitive. It really shines when you aren't towing. When you are cruising on the highway and give it a little gas, normally the torque converter will unlock, using a little more fuel. But since the throttle is less sensitive, it helps you to give just enough pedal to get you a little more speed, or not lose speed on a climb, without the converter unlocking. All of that to say, a tad more mpg. You can certainly do it without the sensor though... You just need to be easy on the throttle. I took the pedal sensor off when I ran the HT. When you tow, in my opinion, it doesn't help.

But is the pedal sensor what fixed the cel or is the stock intake?

Well I hat to speak for the guy, but the pedal sensor won't have any bearing on the cel. When I had the HT, I ran it for a little while with an afe drop in filter and got the cel. When I replaced the filter with a stock one, I didn't get the error. If you have any modification to the air box or a cat back that flows better than stock, you will end up with a cel periodically. But from my experience, it's any change to the stock air box that does it.

I did not put pedal thing on as I like the quick get up, gas is cheap in Texas. I just swapped out k and n back to stock. Still enojoyin it, and still no light or any warnings on ultra gauge.

Yes and yes, just get one though Amazon and that way if you don't like it you just return it no questions asked, keep original packaging. I could tell you all day, and have in previous posts, I like it but it's gonna be one of those things you have to see for yourself. And results may vary as I have a 5.7 and diff setup.

I read some where that when you hook it to your pc, that you can pick which air intake you have. Just wondering why the stock intake would be better then the CAI.

I also read that even you use the stock intake, you should pick a different one when you plug it in as it gets better power... is this true?

The stock is a CAI, and the best one for our engine. We have a Toyota, one of the best engines in the world, and more expensive than the body. Why wouldnt Toyota put in a k and n or a s and b if they were better? If it was a ford or somethin I would do it as it worked well in my mustang gt. Also I sold my k and n, do you think I did it cause it was better than stock?

Don't know about choosing a diff intake

Nope, it's pretty straight forward. Plug and play. There's a couple vids online for Toyota install.

From what I read, it's a big no no. It will lean a SC truck out to the point where it's only a matter of time.

I'm sure you didn't but I have to ask, did you plug in tuner before it said too? I think someone else had same problem also with that code. Damn the bad luck
