I can tell you, with 35,000 miles of experience, that the G2's were great for me in everything other than rain. Not apples-to-apples though. I had them on my 2015 Z71 Chevy crew with the 6.2 L 420HP engine. I dreaded driving in the rain. Loved the tires otherwise. It was mostly stopping and starting issues. They were 295's on 18" wheels.

Had Goodyear wrangler duratracs on my 16 tacoma trd or, noisiest tirest ever, and noticeable vibration fromvthe tread pattern at slow speeds on pavement. Good performance in all weather, and i got 50k of mostly highway driving on a set. And could have had more if i rotated them more often. But definitely not looking to put them on the tundra due to road noise.

i've had 305/65r18 BFG K02, 35x12.5r18 Toyo RT and am currently on 35x12.5r18 MT, the 35's fit no problem on 2" of lift with the body mount cut back, and the front plastic trimmed a bit.

BFG - Quiet and smooth, amazing in snow, didn't like sharp rocks in the AZ Deserts.
Toyo RT - Relatively quiet and smooth, wore like iron, grip well off road in all terrains.
Toyo MT - Hum like a MT, feel very smooth on highway, grip EVERYTHING, each offroad trip impresses me more.

those look a lot like ST Maxx's. Not surprising I guess since Cooper owns them. I am still a little ways out from deciding on my next tire. Thinking about the Goodyear Fierce Attitude MTs if I go the MT route. I really like the ST Maxx but Cooper is awfully proud of them and rarely do you see them discounted. I bought some for my Tacoma and the dude at Discount Direct said he had never seen a rebate offered. Well about 2 weeks later for the Labor Day sale they had the first one ever.

Just put some 295/55/20 Renegade all terrains. No issues yet. Slightly noisy when going under 55 but don’t hear it down highway. We’ll see if this was a good $700 bucks we’ll spent.

I wanted to post a 14,000 mile update for my Hankook Dynapro ATM's. These shipped with 13/32" tread and now have around 10/32". They have roughly 76% of their tread left which means I'm on par to get 50-60K miles out of them. I wish I had more off road data but I'm impressed with them so far.

Unfortunately, I'll be moving up in size soon once I install my lift so these won't be staying on their full life. These appear to be a good budget friendly all terrain tire.

it depends on the manufacturer's measured wheel width vs your selected wheel width, but around 11.6" (295/25.4).

Just got Firestone Destination MT's mounted this morning. Very impressed so far with very little road noise. Was only able to purchase 3 had to find the fourth. MTs are now discontinued for the mt2. it was worth the trouble of searching $507 for all 4 installed and balanced.

I have the falken at3w on my 95 f250. These tires are AMAZING. Snow performance is awesome, I don't know much about duratracs but would be very surprised if they could do better. Pretty competent in mud and great in Utah rock and mountain trails. Liked them so much I bought another set for my wife's truck. One thing I will say is stay away from the p rated version. They are really watered down compared to the lt tires. I want to put them on my tundra but 275/60r20 only comes in p rated

looking at some M/T tires in 35"s... the Falken M/T are $300 vs Nitto TG M/T over $400 (msrp prices).
quite a difference in prices once you factor 4 tires. Anyone tried the Falken M/T ?

I had the falken mts and the at3w both at separate times. The mt had a horrible problem with chunking the tread. I'm talking peanut shell size chunks coming off the tread blocks. If it wasn't for that it was a good tire , but my use was in a mountain terrain with more rocky environment. At3w is awesome as long as its e rated. The p rated ones are junk. I have the at3w on my 95 f250 and the p rated on my wife's super crew 150. Night and day difference.

Don't let a kid out smart you.
I put Falken Wildpeak AT3W's (265/70/r16) on my stock AC sr5 TRD and so far I love them. before I had some Michelin Highway/ AT tires> with the At3W's my gas mileage isn't much lower about 0.2ish city and 0.4ish Highway. I have taken them to my local offroad spots and they did great, even in the mud. I haven't had the chance to properly air them down or take them on packed or loose dirt but so far i give them a great review. they are cheap and had great reviews from others. the only complaint i read about was that they wear a little fast. but for the price to performance i could really find any thing better that didn't have a more mild tread pattern i.e terra grapplers. 8/10

I kinda do everything with my truck. I currently have the Toyo Open Country AT, they have about 60k miles on them and are slipping/spinning now in the rain. So, time for something new.

I like the tire, but maybe something a bit more tready, can last 50k miles or better, not terribly concerned about the cost.

I'm a member of Costco, have never used for tires... Otherwise I have Discount Tire and Les Schwab here too.

Thanks for the tips! The picture was the day I left for Squaw Valley to skin around Memorial Day weekend last year, along with some dirt riding down in Bakersfield area.

    Preliminary review for General AT-X.

    https://generaltire.com/tires/light-trucksuv/grabber-atx

Brief prologue here, for work I do a lot of driving on gravel, two tracks, primitive dirt roads in all sort of conditions. I've used a number of different tires over the years, to include several sets of GY Duratracs, Cooper Discoverer ST, BFG KO2, Cooper STT, Toyo M55, Toyo ATII. Also, disclaimer these are mounted on a 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 w/ 18" wheels. Size is LT265/70/R18, load range E.

I will update this thread over time. I just put these on last week. The first day out with them I got an opportunity to try them in heavy wet snow/slush. They performed very well with no hydroplaning. I purposely drove in some of the deeper slush (3-4") to see if the tires planed at all, and I was impressed with how well they tracked.

A couple of days later I got an opportunity to try them out on about 30 miles of muddy dirt road (no gravel). The first thing to remember is these are an AT tire. They will never clean out and bite like an MT. That said, I liked how well they cleaned out. I did my best to maintain RPM in the 1800-2400 range, which seems to be the sweet spot for the Chevy traction system. I was impressed with how well these did on some very steep hills in 2wd. In 4wd these really offer some bite.

Highway manners are an important factor for me. I hate listening to tires howl. One of my major complaints with Duratracs is how loud they get as they wear. If they wear unevenly due to alignment issues it can get very obnoxious. For balancing, looks like the shop put 3/4 oz on the outside, and 1/2-3/4 oz on the inside. These tires are very quiet and smooth on the highway. I have not noticed any difference with fuel mileage relative to the Duratracs, but in all honesty I really haven't done any apples to apples comparisons.

Update. These perform very well on snowy roads. They also very good in heavy wet snow and do a decent job of digging in. One area I noticed they really don’t do well is muddy two tracks. As could reasonably be expected from the tread design, they don’t offer much in the way of lateral traction (ie you hope the tires stay in the ruts and the road is slopes the right way).

All in all I still would consider these a very good all terrain tire for snowy climates. If you’re into heavier off road use, I might look at something a little more aggressive.

Ok so i bought a set of Cooper diecoverer xlt e rated size 265/70/18 on stock Fleet steel wheels. I put a tank of
Fuel on the tires and I am returning them for a proven set of General Atx tires on trd oem size. The reason is the Coopers on my tundra had alot of steering wheel vibration at highway speeds. That is my only complaint, I believe this new design of tire is not proven and finding a true balance is not attainable.

    therefore i am going
Back to a proven name General atx tires, i have them on my tacoma and have zero complaints. Take
    It or leave it.

update, Americas tires fixed the steering vibration. It was off my ounces.

I bought a set of new Nokian Rotiiva AT's in 275/55/20 to mount on the factory 20" alloys. They're quite smooth and quiet for an AT. They replaced the previous set of Nokians on the truck. Compared to the highway only focused tires like the Michelin Defender LTX or Nokian's Rotiiva HT's these are only slightly more "noisy" for a trade-off of better performance off-road.

Hankook Dynapro MT 295/65/16 on a '07 FJC.
    • Loved that tire. Very low road noise for a MT. Wish I had never sold that rig...:(

    Cooper STT Pro 35x12.50 on a '14 F150
    • I got 70k miles out of them in 2 years. Rotated religiously every 5k. Great tire for 1/2 tons but have had several buddies that had blow outs on diesels - 3 in fact. Too many to be coincidence. Would not hesitate to run them on a Tundra tho. Also, they balanced well and they look bitchin.
    Mickey Thompson ATZ p3 37x13.50 on a '02 F350 (7.3 diesel)
    • E rated. Balanced really well for their size. Low road noise, but the 7.3 is loud AF so who really knows? Good road manners and did well in the infamous MT gumbo mud and snow. Not great around town in the winter tho... but not many tires are.
Will be looking at Toyo AT III in 37" for the Tundra when the time comes...

I ran two sets of Cooper ST Maxx on my 4Runner a few years back, still probably my favorite tire of all time at least on that vehicle.

Bought my current Tundra slightly used with 37" Cooper STT Pros. I loved the looks and performance in nearly all conditions (ice notwithstanding, but expected). Only thing I hated was tread life. HUGE Con, I only got 18,000 miles before offroad performance was bad and I had to move on. Note: I didn't do a 5 tire rotation as I do now and probably didn't rotate quite enough, but still was very disappointed. Personally I would never buy these.

    I am currently running Mickey Thompson ATZ p3 37 x 12.5 R20
I am at 3 years and 30,000 hard miles and still have ~ 40% tread left. They have been amazing all around tires.

Excellent on-road, off road in sand, mud, and rocky terrain. The side walls are bullet-proof and survived very sharp rocky terrain even with my very heavy expedition built 2012 Tundra. 2-3 times a year I drive from Seattle to Death Valley or Southern Utah and Arizona and run fast through sand, rutted dirt roads, shale rock and slick rock climbing. Never had a puncture, blow out or any tire issues over 8 trips in 3 years including highway driving from Seattle to the destination.

    Great on-road manners as well.

Looking for the least noisiest AT tire on the market. I live in Miami so we don’t really deal with any elements other than. Beat and rain. Just looking for a more aggressive looking tire on my stock 20’s. Simply aesthetics.

    Let me know your thoughts.

Im on Mickey Thompson Baja ATZs and love them. Balanced well, good off-road and on road, and handle well in rain. They are 33's... I had the OG ATZs on my Tacoma and they were very good as well. Made in America.

I used to have BFG KO2's. They rode nice and weren't super loud. The rubber was super hard, though, and I broke loose a lot when giving it some beans. None of the tires wore correctly. The front tires were cupped due to an alignment issue before I got the truck and the back tires, although inflated properly, only wore in the middle, and the shoulders and edges of the tire are virtually untouched. Plus, in the size I had (305/65r18), they are like $370/ tire.

Just put on a set of Ridge Grapplers ,275/55/20, last week and no noise to complain about. Even the wife commented how quiet they are. A little noise at 65 to 67 mph, but not much at all.

Ran lots of M/T on my jeeps. Hands down KM3 is the best for my money. They actually rode better than ko2 I had on before and just as quiet. I love them just couldn’t justify them on my tundra. I’ve had many nitto too. Loved my trail grapplers but they’re very heavy. Good tire though. Currently have 285/70 Ridge grapplers on my truck and so far I like them. Quieter than I thought they would be.
