Currently: Python alarm with autostart, JDMCar console organizer. About to do: Trd Sway bar, Amp Research bed extender, ESP under seat storage, DIY wireless phone charging mod, Tyger "star armor" running boards, Husky xact fit mats. Thinking about doing very soon and researching more: Lift or level kit (with closest to stock ride), replace the current 20" wheels with 18" trd pro wheels and BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 Radial Tire -LT275/70R18/E 125/122R (or similar) Start of summer adding: Full stereo replacement with android auto/wifi head unit, midrange to high end speakers and amp, JL audio pre designed dual sub Tundra enclosure, Yakima 5 bike tilting hitch carrier with snowboard attachment, darkest privacy tint all around, LED headlights, possibly hard cover of some kind.
Hey guys! Thanks for all the help already, as I have been lurking for information and you seem like a solid community!

It's been decent times lately so I decided to get a new truck. I've been driving a 2008 tundra sr5 double cab in forest metallic green for about 6 years and 90k miles. I did basically nothing but change the oil and that truck never once let me down! Loved it!

I pulled the trigger a few days back on a 2015 silver crew max platinum as my new upgrade! I also wanted to customize this one, as I didn't do one thing to the last truck.

For those with short attention spans or who just don't have time to help or read farther, my introduction ends now! Cya around the forums!

For those who read on, I will share my plan for my truck mod ideas and ask some questions. Feel free to give advice or guide me in other directions!

Here is my current mod list and plans for future:

Currently installed: Python alarm with autostart, JDMCar console organizer (Amazon)

About to do and have parts in mail: Trd Sway bar, Amp Research bed extender, ESP under seat storage mod, DIY wireless phone charging mod, Tyger "star armor" running boards, Husky xact fit mats.

Thinking about doing very soon and researching more: Lift or level kit (with closest to stock ride. I don't know Lucy about this and still am learning), replace the current 20" wheels with 18" trd pro wheels and BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 Radial Tire -LT275/70R18/E 125/122R (or similar)

Start of summer adding: Full stereo replacement with android auto/wifi head unit, midrange to high end speakers and amp, JL audio pre designed for Tundra dual sub enclosure, Yakima 5 bike tilting hitch carrier with snowboard attachment, darkest privacy tint all around, LED headlights, possibly hard cover of some kind.

    Questions:

    1. Why do I have to press the gas down so much harder to move in this truck than my last tundra?

    2. Is the feeling that I want to slightly wander out of the lane most likely a technical/tire/alignment issue or just the difference in feel between a 15' crewmax frame and a 08' double cab? (steering pulls to left or right seemingly randomly and seems for lack of better term "heavy")

    3. What's the best 2 to 3 inch lift/level for keeping the ride closest to stock and best chance to not void aftermarket warranty? Does my choice of tires above look good?

    4. Recommendations for L.E.D. headlights? Hard cover recommendations?

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to answer and give their help and/or opinion!!

I'll post a before pic in the next couple days.

Joe, great start and nice plans for future mods. Question 1) the second and third gens are programmed a little different. That's why it feels like you're having to mash the pedal. One thing you can do to help out is take off all your nannies. It'll really feel BA then. 2) your truck shouldn't want at all. It's your Alignment/tires. 3) to get a little lift, keep ride quality and not good your warranty put on some new Bilstein 6112's up front and either 5100's or 5160's in the rear. Anytime you do anything to the truck you are chancing your voiding that part of the trucks warranty. If you have the dealer do the install most times they will still warranty it. For the most part you shouldn't have any problems with warranty from installing some new Bilsteins. 4) for LED headlights your best bet is the 2018 headlight conversion. And bed covers get a BakFlip MX4. Hope this helps somewhat. You're going to need to Do a search for any and all suggestions to see what others recommend/more info. There's tons of it on this site. Happy modding:hattip:

    Welcome from NE.

I've heard get things about Toyotec for a 3/1 lift and the Bilstein 6112/5110 combo . Those are the two I'm looking at.

I have an 18 and the headlights are fantastic. I feel bad for oncoming traffic because those suckers are bright. I've seen some guys install Spyder LEDs and they seem to like them also.

I have the BAK revolver x4 tonneau cover and really like it . I was able to get in on a group buy on the forum and save 10%.

Humph... lurkers. They should be covered in honey and set upon by tickle bees.

I, Spraynard, purchased my truckee and only then did I do a Giggle search for Tundra forums/shenanigans.

#1- Probably because the damn thing is so heavy (or gearing....), or if you have Tow Haul mode, press the Tow Haul button, then hit the gas!
#2- Probably Alignment.. Stock tires? maybe the pizza cutter tire as well.
#3- Do some research- You will get a million answers to this one. I like Icon and Toytec
