yes we have good sheriffs, but look what was voted in this last election. I've lived here all my life and never thought about leaving until this year. If you don't believe me look at all the new laws the legislature is gonna pass with the blessing of the new governor. Gun laws and more taxes . they're getting millions from our part of the state, with this oil boom. i think I've said enough.

i could get real political on here but i'm not. The gov. pulled all the national guard away from the border, so they can let more illegals in. The state, county and city leader knew there was an oil boom coming to our part of the state. they could have prepared by building new roads, housing. People are afraid to drive on the roads. There have been more road deaths on this roads in the last year than in many years before combined. By the way I'm getting ready to retire soon, some place quiet like Tennessee or Texas.

    Interesting Matt,
Took my Tundra for its yearly inspection, no emissions test anymore here. $13.00 out the door, done.
It’s pretty crazy how some states are nickel and diming people to death.
    Hang in there bro.

Alaska was fairly reasonable with registration and smog fees. But then again not many vehicles up there compared to Cailfornia for example.

Phoenix has emission testing. We don't have it in northern Arizona.

Check out Utah. Definitely one of the top states as far as beautiful scenery, mountains, trails, lakes, fishing, breweries, etc... Also will be the state with the largest distillery west of the Mississippi. We love it here. Low crime, great family values, weird liquor laws (but that's okay, a short drive will get you what you want), tons of outdoor stuff to do not found anywhere else. The interstate system and smaller road will get you anywhere you want to go. Oh, and it's still the "Wild Wild West", so you can keep ALL your firearms. lol

Hit me up if you have any questions. Been here 17 years after moving from Hawaii.

Have you looked at Chayenne Wyoming? Not far from the mountains and they give you tax breaks to move there. 2 hours from Denver.

I have lived most of my life in Northern California. Growing up it was a great place. Times have changed, costs, to many people, intrusive nanny state that keeps getting worse. Every time we drive through the areas you just mentioned my wife and I both comment on how nice it is. Maybe someday.

The CO laws turned me off a while ago to the idea of moving there, but making the move is back on my radar now this past year or so, despite the laws. But you're saying the law pretty much isn't heeded by folks, and not enforced either?

Pretty much not enforced outside of Denver/Boulder. Definitely not enforced in most rural counties where the lefties haven't taken over. I know that most Aurora PD leo's don't have time to verify where/when you bought your magazine.

That being said, don’t be a dumbass. There’s always that one LEO that has to prove themselves.

As you probably already know, all magazines have a date stamp.

    0983C780-5110-423C-B5BA-9B835AABE617.jpg 5843D332-E9DE-4359-8E14-FEFEAE7881ED.jpg 0C1D12F3-6174-4447-BDC3-044E85BE9A4B.jpg 6C018C44-495E-4E36-BE93-38DEC646DD71.jpg

These three “illegal” magazines were all purchased after the 15 rd magazine ban.

Now there’s pretty much no way to remove the stamp in the aluminum magazine that’s cost effective, without being totally obvious. Now the P-Mags, sandblast and cerakote. No way to tell.

So help a foreigner out. Can I move to CO with all my 30 round mags or does it depend when they were made? Is non compliance a felony or misdemeanor?

Are private sales illegal? I plan on downsizing my collection before moving anyways.

Yes, your stuff is legal. You can not sell or give away any magazines over 15 rounds. The magazines die with you.

Private gun sales are illegal, thankfully. The process is easy and has stopped me from selling a couple of my weapons to felons. There are only 11 states that private gun sales are illegal (and District of Columbia).

I'd never even think of doing a private sale with someone I didn't know. That's what Tanner gun shows are for here in CO..ie...background check. I'd only do a private sale with someone I knew for a long time. My son, or my brother for example, or my friend and landlord who's brother, a sheriff, who got gunned down in El Paso County by some perps who don't care about gun laws. Thankfully 39 states haven't infringed ....move to a state where you are truly comfortable with when it comes to 2A...bottom line...don't do anything illegal...research each states firearm laws then decide what is the best fit.

I wouldn’t even do a private sale to a family member, since it’s the law.

We are talking about Colorado Matt. It’s the law here, and the content of the conversation. Not everyone is as knowledgeable on the topic.

These were purchased from Springs Armory in Colorado Springs.

    Like I said, not enforced.

So true it seems....that's why it's good to check with your local county sheriff here so there are no misunderstandings since the laws are being enforced differently from county to county. I digress to my previous statements. As far as local municipalities not under sheriff jurisdiction then assume that the laws on the books will most likely be enforced. The penalties can be harsh..although I haven't seen a single case brought to court yet here in Aurora with mag violations. Not sure about private sale violations. Myself and law abiding friends take advantage of the local gun shows here unlike the gang bangers and criminals who do as they please anyway...so what's the point..lol..

I personally think background checks are ineffective and an infringement. I have no problem with private sales. The average criminal is never going to take a background check. Only us honest people will. Furthermore, I think non- violent felons should have their rights restored after their time has been served.

Let's steer this ship back on course.

Who's spent time in Boise? Looks like it checks a lot of my boxes. Winters look more mild than I realized.
