Howdy! Just got my first Tundra and am stoked. I went from a 2 Dr coupe to this and was thinking about lifting it. Now before you say anything, I know it is just a base model SR, and yes it is 2wd, and yes it’s only the 4.0 V6. But whatever, I got a steal on the truck with low mileage! So let’s lift it up. Pretty new to truck lifting scene. I’ve been doing some research and been thinking about going with the Rough Country 4.5 or 6” lift kit. For tires i don’t want to go to knoby, won’t be doing to much offroad(it’s a 2wd remember lol) so was thinking of a hybrid type. Maybe 33’s for the 4.5 and 35’s with the 6 inch? Was debating as well a 20x10 or 20x9?

Would love to see some of your builds(please include set up details) and hear your thoughts!

Other future add ons-fog light kit, different running boards, spider headlights?

    Welcome
Your stock tires are pretty much 33”. Just lift it 3-4” and stick with 35” if you go 6” get 37” and def re-gear

    Welcome to the party!!

This is 35s on a 2.5 inch lift in the front. Just make sure you know what you are doing when you buy tires.

What axle is in the 4.0 v6 trucks? 8.0 or 9.5?

Either way there are 4.88 gear options that will make those tires spin no problem!

Also, forget about rough country for a 2wd.

Get cst lift spindles 3.5 inches. And if thats not enough, you can add any coilover you want to add 2.5 more inches.

Spindle lift is the best and most economical way to lift a 2wd.

Nice truck! Did you install the RC kit yourself? Wondering if it’s a job that can be done over the weekend?

Shouldn't be to pricey on a 2wd at least right ? One of the reasons I'm going to stay the tire size im at because it alot to re gear a 4x4

I think that is what he is saying wheels and tires matter alot with what you can get away with without cutting on your truck.

Thanks, and Yes tire sizes. If thats what 35s look like on 2.5 inch lift be ready for what they look like on 6 inch lift. Hell on 4.5 inches 35s should be a minimum

There are cheaper spindles maxxtrax i believe is the company. But cst quality is through the roof. You will be able to take them off and sell them if you ever got a new truck.

But comparing a spindle lift to that particular rc lift for example. It’s 1 inch less, but shock spacers are junk. That rc lift is using the stock shock with a 4.5 inch block on top. Couldn’t pay me to run that. People with drop bracket lifts need to buy full height coilovers.

cst advantage, you maintain stock a arm geometry and mounting. Stock steering geometry, can even use stock shock, or like mentioned get a coilover for more lift

Gears will make your truck feel like it does now. 35 inch tires will feel sluggish with v6 and stock gears. He has a 9.5 rear, which has 4.10 gears at best, maybe 3.9?

You may take a look again at rough country idk why alot of people dont like their lift kits .I have had mine on 2 yrs and they do have 6" lifted struts with their kits now. Not only that they also have a big dif. Drop kit now as well to get the cv axles back to a good angle .

I guess all im saying is that they are not as bad of lift kits as everyone makes t
