Nice view... last time i was in Tucson for training i drove up Mt. Lemmon its quite the view and weird to go from desert and cacti everywhere to an actual mountain with ever greens on it and talk about the temperature drop. Good times!

Yeah, Mt. Lemmon is a nice escape. 108 down here and a 35 minute drive to the top of the Lemmon and it's like 78.

Unfortunately, this time of year if one snowflake drops they close the road up.

Edit: The Catalina's (Mt. Lemmon) from the backyard this morning.

What I had to deal with before going to work. We didn't get the snow Flagstaff did, but a solid 24" is enough to keep you busy too.

This was our Sunday afternoon. Buddy and his F-150 2.7EB, my family and our truck. Went out to the middle of nowhere in a provincial forest and had a fire, shot some guns (.22), did some tobogonning, and best of all, some snow wheeling down an un-maintained fire road.

The snow was deep, and very hard-packed, but the truck was too heavy to float, and it would break through. We tried to maintain momentum, between 40 and 60 km/h, and the V8 was making some very healthy noises hovering between 2500 and 3200 rpm. Snow offers a TON of resistance.

Buddy got stuck once, as he was leading the way, and went through a massive drift without enough speed. I recovered him, and we both made it all the way through the drift once we knew to go fast.

I didn't get stuck once, which was nice. Blizzaks do surprisingly well in deep snow that lacks a base; they are afterall a street tire, not an off-road tire. They performed better than my buddy's 2 year old Goodyear Mud-Terrains, as he would struggle a little more than me in the deep stuff.

Anyway, a great afternoon. Definitely doing it again.

Oh, -30c (-22f) with the windchill today in Manitoba.
