    This makes sense for K&N.

I had a complete central air system put in about 5 years ago and my HVAC guy told me not to use pleaded air filters. I have never asked why.

I thought I’d purchase expensive $30/piece Merv 12 or some shit filters since we just had a baby, furnace broke and repair man said it was lack of oxygen, The filter was bending in so tight it was unable to be moved when on, so much suction on that sucker. Said unless you’ve got anything crazy going in with your health, go cheap. Now my furnace runs less, and I pay less and my air is still great.

    Makes sense, probably less restrictive.

I would recommend a MERV 8 pleated filter, and change it once a month for your average household. Why would you use some cheap fiberglass filter you can see through? Where do you think the dust ends up?

I’m taking the advice of a man that has been doing this work for 30+ years and I trust. I buy 2 dozen filters every two years and change once a month. I don’t have any pets so I don’t need to worry about pet dander. Most importantly my family is healthy.

That's cool, I've been doing HVAC for 16 years. Maybe he has some reason why he doesn't recommend pleated? Probably because most people don't change them, they plug up, and stress the system out. Do what you want, I was just saying what is recommended to keep your system/house cleaner.
