can anyone please tell me the maximum rating for the stock Tow hitch? Or let me know where i can find this information? I have 2016 2WD CrewMax SR5. Thank you for the help in advance? I plan on doing some towing of a camping trailing in the future.

Mine is 500/5000 without weight distribution and 1000/10000 with weight distribution. From what I can see the harness is a Class IV. From a post I found here, it looks like the hitch (if with the tow package) is slightly higher than a Class IV but not up to a Class V.

Let's look from a different angle. 2014 CrewMax Ltd 4WD: GCWR 12500, Curb Weight 5850. From the manual with my Model Code/4WD the TWR is 6300. Is the limit on this the stock hitch (I have Tow/Haul)? eTrailers sells a couple hitches for the Tundra with a higher TWR and Tongue. Can you remove the stock one and replace it with a beefier hitch to gain some (small improvement) TWR, OR AT LEAST some margin? They sell a Curt Class V ($365) that is 2400 Tongue/16000 Tow, and a Draw-Tite Class IV/V ($369) that is 1200/12000. I know you can't exceed the GCWR or GAWR. But, the GCWR-Curb= 6650. That is 350 lbs more than the manual's stated TWR. I am ignoring MY weight for the moment. The thinking is to heavy up the hitch for margin, and the purpose is if you pull an equipment trailer, when you start adding chains, binders, stake pocket D-rings, etc. that stuff can add up. I suppose I could just weigh the laden trailer at my recycle center and see for sure. My subcompact tractor does not weigh that much (2579 with FEL and BH), and my 18' equipment trailer is all aluminum (1900 curb, dual axle with brakes on both, 9990 rating). It is below the stock hitch with trailer/tractor (~5000). But if I had a hitch rated at 16000 (presumably better construction/welding and bolt grade), a drawbar at 15000 (have already), and ball at 24000 (have already), I would feel better about it, especially if I was a little over unintentionally. I could put an implement in the bed and maybe end up exceeding the GCWR. Note: not for commercial purposes or long distances. Maybe I worry too much. Has anybody bothered to do this?
