Your truck looks amazing! I have to admit though, that I kind of dislike you right now...lol The weather is horrible here, snow, ice, salt all over the road, my truck is filthy and Im super jealous of you! ;)

One of the perks of living in the south... no nasty winter weather to cover up the beauty of our trucks. I'm sure yours looks great when she's all shined up. You certainly chose the right color.

Alright, I hadn’t applied Beadmaker to my truck since I had it ceramic coated on January 1st. During this time, the ceramic did okay, but didn’t seem to shed water and dirt nearly as well as Beadmaker did.

It’s been raining a lot lately, so my truck was filthy. Dirtier than it was after rain when using Beadmaker. Yesterday the weather was great, but storms were forecasted overnight and today. I figured it was a good opportunity to see how Beadmaker worked over ceramic. So I washed it and applied it.

This morning it was raining like crazy, and my truck had water all over it. As soon as I started backing down the driveway I could see the difference. Water started pouring off immediately. My hood was dry by the time I got to the end of my street. I sat at the stop sign to let it build up again. As soon as I took off the water pretty much flew off the truck.

So, aside from the fact that ceramic lasts a hell of a lot longer than Beadmaker, I don’t think it comes close the same results. Beadmaker is a really unique product that to me is at the top of it’s class. The only negative is it’s short life. That said, the price is very low, and for what it does I don’t mind reapplying it once a month.

    It also looks fantastic:

It does better than most store bought spray detailing products. I say that because I have used A TON of different ones. Bead maker is designed for easy application (it's super easy), so doing it monthly or every wash isn't a deal breaker for me, I love this stuff

I’ve tried a ton of stuff myself. There are a lot of great products out there, but this one is truly unique.
I definitely recommend buying it by the gallon. It takes pretty much all of the smaller bottle to do a Tundra.

Don’t get me started. Had mine fully corrected and coated January 1st. I’ve already put scratches back in it from washing, and I’m as careful as I can possibly be. Of course it’s black, so it’s always going to be next to impossible to avoid.
I bet a metal shaving really did a number on yours.

That’s what I use also. I have a ton of towels, and use different ones for different things. I have some that I will only use on my truck. I’m not as picky with the ones I use on other vehicles.

The Rag Company has some really good stuff. You can find some good bundles on their site with a variety of styles. Not the cheapest, but reasonable for the quality. (They even have towels for your lady.)

I also really like these, and the price is pretty great. They work for pretty much everything. Probably what I would recommend most, given the price.

Chemical Guys MIC_506_12 Professional Grade Premium Microfiber Towels, Gold (16 in. x 16 in.) (Pack of 12) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A8MZ7IA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_xXSBCbNE3PW9P

I would mention the Costco pack of microfibers, but it’s probably illegal to buy from Costco in Bentonville.

Thank you sir. Unfortunately, have already put a few light scratches back in the paint. I’ve tried to be as careful as possible, but I don’t know if it’s realistic to think I can keep that black paint in flawless condition for long.

Got in a good wash last night and did both the Hydro2 and beadmaker. Both were easy enough to apply - not sure I'll both every time I wash though

Looks great! Definitely don’t need to do it every time. (Unless you only wash every few months.)

Hydro2 maybe every three months, Beadmaker once a month is plenty.

I am going to try this bead maker. I read this entire thread and watched quite a few YouTube videos with Pan the Organizer and Obsessed Garage. My truck is only 6 months old. I wash it every 2 weeks at least. It stays pretty clean in California. (bit of rain lately, weird :p) I used a good Meguiars carnauba wax about 3 months ago with a DA polisher. I dry with Lucas Slick Mist after every wash. Paint looks and feels really good in my opinion. What steps should I take before applying?

    1. Wash
    2. Iron x
    3. Wash
    4. Dry
    5. Car Pro Eraser (does this take my wax off?)
    6. Bead Maker

Or do I just wash and go Bead Maker since my paint is ok? It might have some slight swirling but im ok with it because you can't see it, my truck it white. You really have to look. I use 2 bucket method. I don't want to go full correction because the truck is new and i think it's ok. I know it's not perfect from the factory, but it looks pretty good in my opinion. I just don't want to seal in a bunch of contamination and make it harder later.

What do you guys/ gal think?

If it’s been three months since you applied wax, it’s likely gone already. Three months longevity from a wax would be exceptional.
The Iron X and Eraser will definitely remove any remnants of your wax though.

I would add a clay bar / mitt step, but it’s not a must. It will make your paint pop more though. Even though your truck is only six months old, you’d be surprised how much contamination there is likely to be in the paint. I’ve done Iron X and clay bar to a car the day after I bought it. It had a lot.

As a test, put a plastic baggy over your hand and rub the paint. You’ll probably feel a lot of roughness then.

Paint correction is definitely not necessary. Beadmaker isn’t going to seal anything in like that to the point it would be hard to do later. The only thing that pretty much requires paint correction is a true ceramic coating. Beadmaker will be gone on it’s own within two months, so don’t worry about that.

You could just wash it and apply Beadmaker, but I think you’ll be much happier if you do those other things first.

Hey, @War Machine, did you apply wax first before P&S? I was in the process of ordering a gallon. The company Autogeek and Autopia are of the same located in Stuart FL. Here is also a coupon that everyone can use.

No sir. I apply Hydro2 before Beadmaker in most cases. It’s a sealant that I feel adds some color depth and longevity. (Probably just my imagination though.)

Beadmaker is a sealant. If using waxes, they should always go on last. I wouldn’t recommend putting wax over Beadmaker though. At least try it and see what you think before topping it with anything. @driverdog prefers Beadmaker first, Hydro2 second, but I’ve yet to try it that way.

Sealants and waxes do similar things, but there is a trade off depending on which you use. Basically, each will do the other’s job somewhat, but both have advantages and disadvantages.

    The basic difference is:
Sealant lasts longer, usually easier to apply.
    Wax looks better.

Beadmaker is the sealant I’ve found that most closely mimics the look of wax. I’ve not put wax on top of it, but I doubt it improves the look of it.

    Here’s a pretty good breakdown:

Just ordered from here. Good deal on the 15% Discount! Thanks! Free shipping and about 15 bucks off.

The Nanoskin mitt was cheaper with @War Machine 35 dollar Amazon link. It was 49.99 at Autopia, kinda odd because all their other prices were cheaper than Amazon.

It varies. A lot of times, Autogeek and other sites have a cheaper price, but their shipping charges raise them above Amazon. You have to factor that in. The Rag Company especially. They charge shipping, plus generally a $5.00 fee for chemicals. Stuff from Amazon almost always has free shipping, and tends to get delivered faster.
