I'm just going to put a giant piece of cardboard between my sliders and truck and go to town. I have so much more to do on my truck right now that I might not even sand the rust off and just spray right over it. :anonymous:

Just get a can of Por 15. It’s meant to go over rust. No prep required. That is what I plan on touching mine up with.

Yeah I have like 5 cans of these laying around. Open one, get paint on rim, close can... never able to open again.

Hmmmm….. Brush on does sound easier than shoving a giant piece of cardboard between my truck and sliders.

POR 15 is gnarly stuff. I put it on a steel boat trailer that lives at the harbor and has a salty boat loaded onto it once a week. The paint is still holding up 8 yrs later. Just be sure not to get it on anything unintentionally.

I plan on doing the same to the frame and LCAs. The diff was the tester piece just in case it came out like shit since I am putting the diff skid over it.

I’ve used Rustoleum rust converter gel spray to good effect. Spray it on, let it set for about 30 minutes, then rinse n wipe. Good to go!

It’s an 88. Unfortunately not quite yet. Gathering the parts but the tundra and sandrail get in the way. :(

California no longer allows whatever magic cancer-inducing coating I use to coat mine the first time. But these at working for me now:IMG_6134.jpg IMG_6135.jpg IMG_6136.jpg

Nosing around various trip reports and I have to say yours are probably the best. Just the right amount of detail and plenty of pics and videos.

I believe it is! Hence my handle.
The 22RE is an amazing little motor. The hundred hp wonder! 4.88s and 32" tires help.

Got home from BAMF and started on the cam tabs on the passenger side. Got all 4 stock tabs off. Two were flattened.

And the mount where the flattened ones were is bent to shit.

Need to bend it back this much but it will not budge. Going to try a bigger effin’ hammer tomorrow.
