Good to know. I've got a broken leaf. So the rear's gonna get done sooner than I'd thought.

 

And Matt had such nice things to say about you on the phone yesterday..... No joke.

I think it's fine. The key is vertical stiffening to keep each end of the frame from moving up and down when the leafs flatten out and put pressure on the rear shackle like we talked about

 

I like Matt... he’s never done me wrong... some have experienced issues.. I was more poking fun at Craig... I’m actually installing his 1st gen rear cantilever kit on @Sunnier truck so clearly I support his work. And I still have a set of ads rear shocks. Granted im on something else now. But they were good shocks and Matt does good work.

 

So wait. Does Matt give you this ‘vertical stiffening’ or do you do get it another way?

 

Ok ladies and gents, some minor updates...

the back end of the tundra aka "the wet noodle" was driving me nuts so it was time to do some frame stiffening.... and since I broke my exhaust off at the parker 425 and needed to replace my exhaust gaskets I figured if I'm doing all that time for some long tube headers and new 3" race exhaust from @dirtydeeds (Thanks Keith this thing sounds awesome)

So anyway here is what i did ... and the truck is back together now.. and holy hell did i get a power boost! sounds awesome!!

Oh and installing headers sucks ass.. but doable. There are some tips and tricks if anyone wants details contact me and I can give those details to you.

step 1 bed off

step 2 cut out plates and tack in

step 3 add small fill plates to gaps and final weld


in the same time i did the headers

out with the old and in with the new

still have some little things to do to get my truck 100% back together, but she runs, which is a good start!

Awesome brother !!! I know reading your gas tank thread, and see in one of your pics you didn't bother with the heat shields. I am not sure if yours is like mine but something you might want to think about. I took the front heat shield off my old 26 gal tank, cut it and put it on just to protect that front edge and inside corner of the tank. That 3" system comes awfully close to the tank right there coming of the drivers side mid pipe to the X. You're the explosive expert and know way more about that stuff than I ever will but I just felt more compfortable putting it on right there I didn't want to melt anything.

I’ve been working on it! Been to Parker a shit ton this year w the truck... I’ve gotten much better

 

So quick update... truck is back together and I made a minor change... I ditched the tow miorrors and added sport mirrors and wrapped the caps... I think it looks a million times better!! Thanks @jc153 for the hook up on mirrors!!

Truck goes for oil change tomorrow then a few minor details to get it ready for Sedona... and start packing all my gear!! Getting excited
