Okay, recently bought a 2015 Tundra, and I’m curious to know if I can add a tow package strictly for light towing. It has the smaller engine and I don’t want to take chances. Love the truck

Does it not come with a hitch? Even the smaller v8 can tow plenty

No, I couldn’t afford the extra expense. Hoping to find an after market solution on my limited budget

Hitch and brake controller is what you need.

Even for light and lightly loaded trailer? Brake controller I mean, the hitch I can do. I am more worried about the transmission without the tow/haul button

depends on what you consider light. 3000 lbs or less doesn't require a braking axle in most states. What kind of connector on the trailer?

Does your truck come with the option to turn off overdrive? If so, I’d keep overdrive off when towing to keep the trans heat at bay, or at least that’s what we used to do in the olden days.

Oh and while I’m advertising my stupidity, the truck came with the hands free technology however it doesn’t work correctly with an iPhone 8 it appears to only be compatible up to the iPhone 5. Is there software update for this?

Trailer in question is single axle, entirely aluminum mainly used for hauling atv or lawnmower. Probably less than 1500 lbs fully loaded. Also has no overdrive

So you just need the 4 prong wiring kit.

You have overdrive. Is your gear selection shifter on the console or steering column?

Steering column, and it has the automatic or standard option. Last truck I owned was an 80 model ford straight 6 300 4 in the floor. Haven’t a clue how to make this new standard mode work for me

There should be a button on the end of the shifter on/off for the OD.

I think that's within the capacity of a Camry. You'll be fine with just adding a hitch.

Yup, both 5th and 6th gears of the 6spd autos are overdrive. 4th is direct.

Even though it’s a lightweight trailer, I’d avoid pulling any grades in 5th or 6th since you don’t have an additional transmission cooler or lock-up torque convertor and you don’t want an overheated transmission. But add a hitch and wiring for trailer lights and you’ll be set. You should barely feel that behind you.

Thanks, it’s for short trips only, mostly below 45mph speed limits, shouldn’t be a problem.

Do the new grade models not have the 4 pin flat there up under the bumper like the 2013 and earliers do? That’s crazy.

They have a flat 4 and a 7-pin. At least mine does, and I don’t have the towing package.
