    Hey everyone
Hope you don’t mind me reaching out for additional guidance, or being ignorant if I didn't read these topics before. I am also exploring conversion down from stock 20’s to 17’s. Primarly for DD road/hwy vs off-road use. Functionality and reliability are first thoughts and appearance important but secondary.

Information overload at my level of (first truck) experience and soon to be retired, among other mods I have been reading past weeks on Wheel and Tire Load ratings, MPG, stopping and roll distances, offsets and backspaces, way over my head. My preference is to remain stock and not get any level/lift mods. Am concerned with widths so I do not extend out or rub inside the wells. While I am not the quickest fish out there, many concepts are beginning to sink in. For the most part I would like to remain close to PP level but matching up other elements. On the tires, I will enjoy less road noise so I need to consider tire compatiblity and quality as well. With exception of one or two long haul runs, I will not be doing much heavy hauling loads or towing, but will convert to diamondback cover and move some furniture.

To get started in converting from stock 20’s I am really interested and watching the Method 313s. While OEM doesn’t offer less than 18’s, Im concerned if making wrong decision going with 17’s incurring negative effct on suspension or other measurement issues or requered adjustments for my non-TRD Crewmax. Like many mods, this will certainly set me back a bit but its all good. Please share your thoughts (pos/cons), I don't think lifting or trimming is required, but brake fit or other things I should (or need to) consider before walking into a shop and ordering and installing these 313’s perhaps some decent tire options as well.

Next question would be about storage. For seasonal changes (winter/spring) would it be better idea to leave my current 20 stocks mounted and stored in the garage until winter or sell the stock 20’s? Im not that lazy but your comments will help me in decisions. Ive been crusing this site for amost a year and I trust the suggests and common sense approaches I read daily. TIA

Toyota did, in fact, offer 17" wheels for its Tundra "Rockwarrior," which was a Tundra package that's no longer offered. It's my understanding, Toyota no longer sells its OEM Rockwarrior wheels, either. But you can still find them used. The Rockwarrior wheels were the ones Toyota used when it raced the Pro model in the Baja 1000 in 2014, I believe, even though the Pros come with 18" wheels.

As for negative effects, the only one I can think of is that there is not much of an aftermarket selection compared to 18" and 20" wheels for 17" wheels that'll fit over the Tundra's large brake calipers. 17" wheels don't really affect suspension or other components.

As for keeping your 20s for the winter, I suppose if you live in an area where road salt and snow slush might dirty up and possibly ruin your new 17" wheels, then I can see where that might be a benefit to keeping them. As for me, I sold my set to help pay for the new set, but that's just me.

You’re overthinking it. There’s nothing wrong with switching to 17” wheels. The issues you’re thinking of are associated with mounting larger tires eg: 35s, 37s, 40s..

I might have posted this in here, but one thing to consider it the offset. Research how offset is measured. Most method 17s have 0 offset, which will cause the tires to stick out quite a bit more than stock. Also the brake caliper is extremely close, so balancing the wheels gets tricky. Call the wheel manufacturer to confirm it fits over the caliper. Here's my caliper clearance. 20190205_195552.jpg

I'm on the same boat. After seeing that picture I might keep my 18"s and go 35"s when my 295/70 are worn out.
it is very close. Would be interesting to see some Icons 17"s calipers clearance.
