I’m actually about to build a 5,000 sq ft garage for one of my clients. It will be a steel roof structure and steel supports but I’m going to do a traditional 2x6 for the exterior wall framing, since they want board and batt siding. It will store about 10-12 cars in the 60’x68’ garage. I’m going to have a Bendpak four post car lift, 16’ big ass fan and do closed Cell Spray foam on the walls and ceiling. The offset room is going to be a wash bay and a full detail area for their vehicles. Here some preliminary steel building drawings and 3-D layouts. The whole structure has to have a sprinkler system due to the value of the vehicles being stored in it.

I'd want a lift in the wash/detailing area.

It barely fits ~ not a lot of room left over front to rear.

    20190201_170918_resized.jpg

This is my parking aid ~ I bought one of these made of rubber/plastic which quickly disintegrated with use. I'm a metal worker so I made a knockoff out of stainless steel.
This thing works like a champ.
You're a woodworker? Use some moldings tacked onto a thin piece of plywood ~ it will work the same way.

I wish I could. There’s a few problems with that though. The lift will require an electrical connection. I don’t want any electrical near an overhead water pressure boom. The other issue is the concrete in that area will have a long French drain. So the concrete will be sloped from all four corners. So the lift wouldn’t be level on the concrete foundation. I planned on have the four post lift in the main area for under carriage hand detail work.

I still have my Robinson Rebel! Bought it brand new right before 6th grade for $200 with money I earned from painting our back fence. It's currently hanging up in my garage rafters

Broke ground on my new 30 x 40 shop today. Rain held off the concrete but hopefully next week.

Exciting!!! Have fun and post more pics! Lol!
I’m sure you’ll beat me to the finish. I’m on month like, 8 :eek2:
I finally have gutters going on next week.
Decided against doing that myself. 4 downspouts, 4 cleanouts, and 86 ft of gutter for $500 installed - well worth paying a professional. Cause I’d fuck that one allll up :D

Pretty tight in my house. The wife’s RX350 fits just fine. Y’all have some sweet setups in the garage. Thinking I’ll need some floating storage too.

Thanks. I've got a Contractor to get the main structure then I'll finish it up. It'll have a small guest house above that we plan to live in until we build our new house.

Lol. The first time I saw a seamless gutter install, it freaked me out watching a 40' piece of gutter coming out of a 12 ft trailer.

Best of luck on your garage. Do you plan to have perimeter beams around the slab with steel stirups? Something similar to this. 0545BD84-A1B7-4C91-8741-0C426E87225C.jpg

Nice that you got the concert guy to do a weather lip on the door opening. They always try to talk us out of them and I know it's because they want to be done faster.

Great group of concrete guys, they started around lunch time and were still there at 12 that night. They did two garages for me that day, the one pictured is kinda down hill so I was worried about water intrusion.
