So I had sworn off forums completely because of a bad experience I had back 5 years ago. Well I was asked to join this one and reluctantly did. Well I am glad I did. Because today I met one of the members of the group and like every other Tundra owner we have met he was one hell of a good guy. Mr.Pugh came down from North Carolina to have an infinity 5 channel , dsr1 , Hertz k170 front and rear and club 10 sub box that switched out to an infinity since he has the infinity amp . We also did c1 tweeters all in the dash locations. While we had the truck apart he had us add soundskins to the doors and back walls. We had to update the DSR1 as I felt there was a glitch in the software and sure enough I was right . As soon as we updated and turned on some Soulfull Jazz it was amazing. The difference between this and the factory JBL was like going from a Pruis to a twin turbo Supra. I kid you not . Staging is good and toanal accuracy is dead on. I was very impressed. I also tried something new with the center channel tweeters and now you do not have to run them to each side or run a wire down to the new amp if changing to a new amp with the dsr1 . I will add that to the group buy instructions with a dsr1 and amp. I hope his trip home is much more enjoyable and can not Thank him enough for trusting us with his beautiful black truck . Mr.Pugh you are welcome to come to our lil shop in the sticks anytime brother.

James, I bought my system and DSR1 from you and have been considering the center channel c1’s. Would you mind elaborating on your new way of wiring them up? I have the JL RD 900/5.

basically all your do is wire the two tweeters series creating an 8 ohm load . then you wire them bridged to the front channels . run the front doors stereo . basically its called mixed mono wiring we did a lot in the 90s before amps had built crossovers and we would run the sub off the mono channel Works perfectly

The true testament to how good this system is today after Mr.Pugh left my son who is 24 years and was raised in this industry since the day he was born pretty much came over to me and said Dad you shocked me today . I said what do you mean. he said I never expected some Infinity Mid grade hertz and dsr1 with a factory head unit to sound as good if not better than a high end head unit some super high end amps and components like Helix or audison. But that system sounded as good as any high end system I have heard as far as quality at any listening level. SO THAT MADE MY DAY AS A FATHER AND INSTALLER. Now do not get me wrong the 1 10 does not have gut wrenching bass you can shake the car next to you with but its bass you feel and hear and the components are extremely musical and tonally balanced at all listening levels ! And there was zero noise or hiss at all using the toyota head unit and that is unheard of until the dsr1 was released with Toyota specific harness . They did just raise the price on me on the dsr1 due to tariffs so i am going to have to raise the price a little soon as now after shipping I make like 9 dollars profit . No joke.

This is the differnce in us old school guys that been doing audio for 20 plus years and these companies that jumped into audio to make a buck. We actually know some tricks that were learned years ago that no one shared anymore

A couple or three photos of how to wire the dash speaker/tweeter replacements on the JBL system would sure solve the battle I have going on in my brain over this. I have about 20 minutes of audio experience. Thanks James.

Thanks James! You and your team are truly professionals. I enjoyed your hospitality. I felt at home. I want the forum to know that you are as everyone has described you to be. While at James shop I was offered a loaner vehicle to explore the Town. James bought lunch for all of us. James and his team are true profectionist. They made sure everything were tuned properly and projected the best sound. I enjoyed the ride back to NC, because my music was clearer than I've ever heard before. The system for my listening pleasure is everything I desired. Each member of his team are genuine Americans. I enjoyed talking to each of them. Oh! His watchdog is awesome as well. Thanks james@tech12volts (brother).

@james@tech12volts I know that this is kind of redundant as I sent you a message via your website, but I wanted to try to get your attention before the group buys elapsed. I'm interested as to your recommended components for a 2011 Regular Cab Tundra with a non-JBL head unit and not going with a sub would be. Obviously I wouldn't need the two extra speakers for the rear doors I don't have, and I'm not sure if the amp was overkill for the fewer speakers that I'd want to drive. Reply via either at your convenience if you have questions for me. Thanks for your time!

Alma, Ga! A great little Town. The people are friendly. From the moment I arrived James sister in-law greeted me and explained the significance of Alma, Ga to me. James 24 year old son and I have a lot in comman. We are both ex-military. So we clicked right away.

I "had" the premium JBL set up. James sent me this a few months after I installed everything...it came up in conversation. I installed the center tweeters following what someone else did in another forum. I went back in and snipped one pos and one neg feed from each leg of the new double center tweeters and wired them together...left everything else alone. Took 10 minutes and seems to have made a big difference with the sound up front.
