Ball joints suck on IFS vehicles, too. All of mine on my tundra were done by 50K (uppers were done by 30k). I said it before, you can make an IFS system work fine. But, based on my own work with mechanical systems, I feel they are inherently weaker. But....I wont change the mind of the IFS pro crowd....ever. It's like arguing with a cat.

And the picture you showed of the height comparison is legit. What I am talking about is the stupid built in valance that Chevy puts on their trucks for mpg gains. Ford does the same thing - I don't really like how low that front end hugs the ground. Not sure if it is easily removable or not. Like I said before, I don't really like the looks of the Ford, either. But this 7.3 might make me get past the looks. Maybe.....

Tomorrow I have a Tacoma coming over to look at his King Shocks, but after that I will snap a few pics.

Ram is going to wish they upgraded that 6.4L Hemi because Chevy's new v8 and Ford's new v8 is going to be way better now for sure.

Sorry thread participants, never got around to snapping the front axle pics.

Busy day. Helped out a TW member, got a call from a buddy that needed 2900 lbs of scrap steel hauled away, and then had a mud bog/truck trailer about in the fence again. Weeeeee

I’m really going to sit down and figure out what I’m doing with tires. What I’m doing and my location isn’t working.

One more downside to diesels, if you need anymore:

    They suck off-road.

Damn. That package Ford offers will be a big seller...for some.

Considering the Raptor F150 is 70k+, I would hate to see this pricing. At least there’s a better option, and the consumer can make the choice if it’s worth it or not.

I have to say, having a true locking rear differential is a lifesaver for me. My friends with the Fords and the lockers, love them. My GMC wouldn’t even move in the mud or snow without it.

I like the package except for the extra lift; those wheels wells are big enough to fit 35" tires without making the truck even taller.

Still wrestling with this. Chevy is out for me. The Ford 7.3 is very intriguing, and I like that you can get 4.30 gears with a locker if you want. However, I have been hearing good things about the new 8 speed mated with the 6.4 Hemi. I really hate the way the Fords look. The new Ram look is growing on me. Not 100% sure I am going to jump ship - but it is looking likely. Too many problems with my Tundra. If I am going to have the problems, I might as well have more capability along with it. If I were a betting man, I would place a wager that the Tundra won't be in my driveway at the end of this year.

I bought a 1 ton Chevy for one of my employees to plow snow with; other than having to get a new wiring harness installed, it's been pretty solid.

Took it on an 80 mile round-trip once, thought I was going to need kidney surgery.

If I bought a 1 ton, it would be an oil burning dually because I needed the torque.

I like Ford and Chevy Regular Cabs. I like that you can spec them pretty nicely despite being available in base trims only.

Pffft. Relatively speaking, my Tundra has been babied. I do go offroad with it, but nothing super extreme. Almost never tow with it. I do haul stuff - but don't go over the max. payload for my configuration (which is a little under 1,000 lbs with me sitting in the truck). I maintain it meticulously, and it has been the 2nd most problematic vehicle I have ever owned. I chuckle when people refer to the Tundra as a "work truck". Sure, you can work with it, but it is severely limited in the payload department. Most people who I have seen that use them as work trucks overload the shit out of them on a regular basis.

The Tundra is just not a vehicle that handles weight well. My 2018 Armada does a better job, more confidently as well, towing the same 28' camper that my Tundra pulled. Oh and the 7 passenger SUV has a higher payload as well.

That was my main reason for chiming in on this thread months ago. I will own another truck within the next year. I do believe it won't be a Tundra, unless there is an HD version. I'm still really hot on the new 7.3 Ford gas engine.

I have a lot of friends with some very reliable Ford 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. We also have a Chevy 3500 at work that has been bulletproof for 6 years. I don't think I'll own a Dodge just from what I view as poor QC and fit/finish.

I like Toyota, always have. My next Toyota will probably be a 4.0L Tacoma. But my next big truck will be a Ford or Chevy.

I was thinking of getting the new 7.3 as well. At this point my 12 year old truck isn't worth much (but not giving me any problems) so I want to get a few more miles out of it.

    That's awesome.

IF (and that's a big if) I needed a truck this big for towing. It'd be the Silverado 3500HD with the Duramax 6.6 Turbo Diesel with the High Country package. My boss has one to haul his fifth wheel and I got to drive it once...that was fun....

The gas engine's just don't have the torque.

I would look in to the 2020 f350 SWR with the new 7.3 gas engine and 10 speed tranny.
