Grill surround

Does anyone know if a rock warrior grill surround will fit on a platinum (2011)? I want to color match my truck (Silver Sky Metallic) the rock warrior grill is less expensive than the platinum and I would think it would be easier to prep for paint than a "fake" chrome grill surround. I want to put the gray middle part in the color matched surround and wonder if they are compatible. If anyone has done it or know if it will work, please let me know.

 

Sand the fake chrome and use a primer. That's my plan anyway. I just haven't got around to doing it. Just my .02 also you can order a rock warrior from @Roman if that's what you want to do.

 

Thanks for the reply, I haven't seen any Rock Warrior grills that are Silver Sky Metallic. I was thinking of buying a black one and prepping it for paint. Figured it would be easier than sanding down the chrome. I just don't know if it would all go back together and look like the platinum grill only painted silver. I will keep researching.

I was planning on doing the same with my grill. Found this video that might help using the chrome as a base for the silver.

 

I have watched this several times, that was my plan as well. The body shop that repaired my Deer hit damage was suppose to save my original grill and surround for me to do this to, but they "lost" it??? They say they will get me another one, still waiting to hear from them. Thanks for the info, like I said, I think this is what I will have to do.

 

FYI: I got an answer on another thread that the rock warrior grill surround does work with the platinum gray insert. I am still waiting to find out what the body shop will do for me if anything. Then it's off to painting.
