I did this with my Pitty when she was a pup. Worked great. Also, When we were playing and she would nip too hard (as a pup), I would "yelp" to let her know how much force was too much. As an adult, we would rough-house every day. She would pretend snarl and bark like she was rabid, but I would purposely shove my arm/hand in her mouth and she would never use real force. I also trained her so that as soon as I shoved my face towards her, she knew not to nip at all. She could "pretend" with my arms/hands, but NEVER near anyone's face. And as soon as I would pin her down, instant submission.

One of the best things I learned from "training your dog for dummies" was that you should pin your dog down and hold them there till they finally realize that resistance is futile and submit. From then on, they know who is alpha and who isn't. When I had kids, I would get the kids to hold her down/drape themselves all over her. Saw something on Dog Whisperer that used a similar philosophy with "restriction of movement" as a technique to assert pack hierarchy.

Unfortunately, she passed away last April at the age of 12.
    Miss you girl...

Yep I’ve done many of those techniques with my dogs through the years. Sorry about your loss man. I’ve had a lot of good dogs come and go. Every time I think to myself that I don’t want another, another one somehow works its way into my life.

It said that he suffocated the lion. Probably crapped his pants and the lion got a bite of that, then just refused to breathe.

Its really the only way to get a big dog to respect you .My Doberman I had I did some of these as well he knew I was the boss. Unfortunately he was still young only 8 when I had to put him down .He broke his spine jumping off our deck .Vet said he would never recover fully so it was best to let him go. He was great to my kids .
