I copied this from their website. Based on only 110 ppm so that 4k can be a little misleading but that is an interesting setup

Get 4,000 gallons of DI water per cubic foot of resin based on incoming water of 110 ppm TDS

But if he is using that same number on the CR Spotless it would at show a quantity difference even though you may never yield 4K.

    Damn...I started this thread.

I am curious as to research on whether or not DI water does have any impact on wax/coatings. My Ceramic Pro coating is 10 months old and the water still runs off and looks great but that is just anecdotal. Any thoughts?

No worries....I’m open to data points.

A rep from CR Spotless called me this afternoon, but I missed the call. I’ll call them back tomorrow and see what they have to say.

Bottom line is that Matt with Obsessed Garage believes DI impact would be negligible and would require prolonged long-term use to really have a negative impact on a wax or coating. Just thought I would share.

My resin just ran out in my DC-20. What I've been using for the past year is the small Ryobi electric pressure washer from Home Depot. It does 1.5 gpm so even if I only get 100 gallons of resin use that's still well over an hour of constant spraying.

I just use tap water to fill my two wash buckets though as it seems pointless to use deionized water for that.

I have very hard water and would love to have this setup but it's pretty pricey and the added cost of resin replacement is even more of a deterrent.

It seems like I could extend the life of the resin by doing all of the washing and initial rinsing using unfiltered water and only use the filtered water for the final (no spot) rinse. Anyone using that approach that can comment on their results?

I've been using the coin wash in order to get the spot free rinse and it seems to work for me. I have also been thinking that I can go really cheap and buy distilled water and use a sprayer to apply it as a spot free rinse.

Yes you can do that as well. You have to use a nozzle that does less than 2.5 gpm to be effective. The nozzle it comes with works this way in fan mode.

Trust me it's worth it. And if you use it just for rinsing it should last you.

I also have the MetroVac heated/filtered blower to dry before I got the CR spotless. Especially in Florida the CR is waaaaaaay easier.

I think most people only do the rinse with it, I’m just a moron.

They are expensive, watch Autogeek for one of their 25% off sales.
