Here's what I learned today. This applies to my 2011 and I assume it will be very similar for 2007-20017.

The connector on the back side of the ring has seven spaces with wires in 1,4,5, and 7. The photo is upside-down, I haven't had this issue posting photos until last month.

I'm not positive, but I think that my truck has an immobilizer from the factory. I'm not sure because I have an aftermarket remote start which does, and that's what I use (I purchased the vehicle this way). None of these wires power the LED. When I apply V to the various pins of the ring/amplifier, locations 2 and 6 light up the LED. I will have to run my own wires to make this work for my truck, drag, but I've done it before. I'm just going to have to wait until I have the free time.

So, for owners of 07-17 rides, to determine if this is likely (one-word disclaimer) to be PnP for your truck, pop off the lower cover of the steering column to check to see if there are already wires in positions 2 and 6.

*Edit: I'm currently studying a Wiring Diagram that labels the positions of the two inboard wires as positions 4 and 5 (also with correct wire colors) rather than 3 and 4 as I had them, so I changed them to be consistent with the diagrams.

My guess is that only the 2007-2013 have a different 7-pin wiring harness.
I am curious if the wires are the same but just the connector changed.
It would be a piece-price cost down for toyota to change from a 7-pin to 4-pin.
There was a minor model change in 2014.
    2007-2013
2014-2017 (minor model) new fascia /updated instrument panel (likely new wiring harness as well)
2018+ (minor model) LED lights / TSS / new cluster (bigger LCD screen)

Since the part number for the illuminated ring is the same for 2007-2017 (seven pin), I'd guess that the harness did not change until 2018 where the part and connector both have four pin connectors.

AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
Yep the 2014 through 2017 Tundras have to pay more than $30 for the lighted rings.

@Roman will get them for you at $114 instead of your local dealers who charge $175 or more.

I finally found a window of free time to finish this little deed. Pinned wires in at locations 2 and 6, ran them down inside the steering column and soldered them in at the footwell light where I also sourced V for my puddle lamp mod. I no longer have mods for the Tundra in the queue, maybe it's time to start surfing the webz for farkles for the motorbike....

I popped mine off the other day to check the wires before ordering. It came off by hand no problem. At most you may need a flathead screwdriver.

The only thing I would say to do different is in picture 5 and 6 I believe where you say "pry the ring gently" I didn't do that, what I did was if you look at picture 8 you can see a slot on each side of the black part where the harness plugs into and what I did was take a small screwdriver and pryed it off and the new one snapped on the same way. Other than that EXCELLENT write up and pictures !!

Exactly- there are a bunch of spots either there or up behind the ring itself that will work with a little screwdriver and result in the same thing.

Just installed one on my 2019 sr5. No problems. I pressed on the base of the connector from the back with one finger while pulling the ring of the existing unit and it came out easily. I used the ends of my needlenose to depress the locks on the connector and it came out no problem. No marks showing I'd even been in the column. Very happy since due to a neuro-muscular disease I can't feel the ends of my fingers anymore so this should help in the dark. Thanks to the OP for starting this topic and to Roman for verifying the part number as well as the reasonal price and quick shipping that Toyota of Cool Springs provided.

    You mean the RING?
    Nope..

I did this a few years ago in my 2014 SR5.

Now if you were technically inclined to swap that LED (or diode), you could probably make it any color you want.

Best $24 I've spent! Thanks @Roman for the part number match up! I have a 2019 TRD Pro. Used a Philips head screwdriver to get the cover off, popped right out by hand, no tools needed. Part number 89782-0E010, Ignition Immobilizer Module (Illuminated Ignition Ring)
