Thanks. That a great video and confirms everything I have found with mine. I can’t wait to get my truck in and out of the dealer so I can reinstall.

Man I can't believe people are critical of throttle response on the newer tundras. I feel like I'm driving a Lamborghini compared to the 3rd gen Tacoma I had. Really makes me wonder how the older Tundra throttle felt.:eek2: after six months in my new 2018 Tundra I'm still getting used to being light on the pedal. I feel like the throttle is super touchy in the Tundra. That's just how bad the new tacos are I guess.

I apologize if this has been asked before. I just ordered mine and wondering if the guys pulling a boat/trailer leave their PC off and just use Tow/Haul Mode or if using PC with Tow/Haul, what setting do you have on your Pedal Commander?

Has anyone installed the pedal commander with a Magnuson SC and bully dog tuner? Curious if this would even make a difference for my current setup.

After installation, My truck has stalled a few times immediately upon startup. Does anyone else have this issue?
Other than that I really like being able to control my throttle sensitivity.

No, not pressing the accelerator. It has happened like 4 times so far. I bought it from Amazon and it looked like it might have been opened before I wonder if it was a returned product. Maybe defective? I will give their customer service a call.

Haven't experienced this with mine. If you haven't yet, double check the plugs to make sure that they're clicked together. Maybe unplug and replug?

OK, this thread and all of your experiences have convinced me to get a Pedal Commander. I have high hopes, but I still have doubts that it will solve the precise frustration I'm having. I'd very much appreciate it if anyone has the time to read this long-winded rant and can confirm whether this device alone will be the actual fix I'm looking for - or, if not, can perhaps point me to other possible solutions/threads for additional ideas? I've been scouring the forum for days now and, while it seems like there are MANY people with complaints similar to mine, none of the solutions really seem to describe exactly what I'm hoping to achieve. However, this may very well just be a matter of vocabulary and terminology and, other than that, this solution seems the most promising.

    My (seemingly common) complaint :
I've been driving a 2001 access cab Tundra since it was new in 2000, and just bought a low-mileage 2018 crewmax. The former has over 250k miles on it and still runs perfectly. The only reason I got the new one is because my teenage kids were needing a vehicle to drive and because I needed something a little less ratty when chauffeuring clients. As has been noted by others in this and many other threads, the first-gen truck has an infinitely better acceleration curve, and I basically just want to achieve something similar.

The best way to describe the 2000 is that it drives almost like an electric motor controlled by a rheostat. (If that doesn't ring a bell, think about slot cars if you're old enough to have had them.) The truck accelerates in precise proportion to how much you depress the pedal. No hesitation, no lag, no lurch, no engine roaring without actually moving forward and, seemingly, no limit to how long you can keep accelerating. And, most important, it doesn't matter what engine speed you start at - more gas always provides more actual acceleration. Unfamiliar drivers complain about it being "jumpy," but all you have to do is be subtle and deliberate about your foot movement.

The 2018, by contrast, feels like a barge - or a Suburban. There's a HUGE delay (milliseconds or not, it's huge by contrast) between the time of hitting the gas pedal and acceleration actually beginning. And, because I naturally tend to continue pressing down on the pedal during that period of delay, when the acceleration finally DOES occur it seems to invariably kick the transmission down a gear and jolt the truck with a roar and sudden boost in RPMs instead of a smooth increase starting from the engine speed I was already at. I get noise... not G-forces. I honestly don't even look forward to driving it, and keep taking the old truck instead.

The real issue almost seems (to me) more like a transmission tuning problem than a throttle problem:
All threads I can find with similar complaints seem to talk about this in terms of it being a "throttle response" issue, and the Pedal Commander, if it's as good as everyone here seems to say, would bear that out. But I have doubts. The thing is ... pushing on the pedal in the 2018 actually DOES seem to induce a throttle response. The ENGINE goes faster, but the truck doesn't. It just hesitates, as described above, before actually beginning to accelerate. (This is where I worry about language and terminology being a barrier, and that I'm describing something different than people who just want to be able "give it more gas.')

Not looking for "raciness" or all-out performance.
I've experimented with the 'beast mode' settings and while using them definitely improves some things, it also comes with just as many drawbacks that make the truck no more drive-able: The transmission always seems to be a gear or two too low which means that the engine is unnecessarily loud and revved up, the fuel efficiency is even worse (whereas a smooth acceleration should actually make it better), the shifts are clunky rather than smooth and invisible, and releasing the pedal causes the truck to decelerate just as fast as it accelerates due to the effects of engine compression. It's nice to know this trick, but I don't want a hot rod most of the time. Nonetheless, it DOES seem to eliminate most of that confounded delay - which is again what leads me to think that the real problem is more of a transmission/shifting issue than a throttle issue.

Maybe I'm just chasing a pipe dream because the truck is so much heavier? But maybe there's a non-intuitive, mysterious connection between electronic fuel injection throttle voltage and transmission shifts that I don't understand? Or maybe the ignition (spark) is boosted by this device too, and that is the difference between simple RPMs and RPMs that produce actual power? I hope so. Does anybody recognize what I'm describing as familiar, and has the Pedal Commander done the trick by itself? Thanks in advance for all the wisdom you share here.

I do think you will find that the PD will help with the "Driveability" issues you describe.

That 30 day return policy makes it a no-brainer to at least give a try. And the install is really easy, 5-10 minutes tops!
