Blaine 18’ now 20’ Platinum Build

This is the 3.5 dash speakers. You cut the wires where the arrow is. That is where they connect to factory speaker. Note here: you will need to have a solder gun OR buy connectors to connect to the Infinity speakers. Infinity people are jerks and didn't supply the connectors in their box. Also you will need to install the capacitor into the positive wire. Disconnect the connector you see in the pic to have it out on a workbench to do this. Much easier

Another note, when taking out the cover for dash 3.5 speakers this clip in center a-pillar side SUCKS. I broke mine and I was using panel removal tools so be more careful and talented then me because I screwed that one in the pooch.

 

Here it is disconnected. Cut the heat shrink back

 

Are you replacing the center tweeter as well?

 

Yes. Got the JLs with the custom bracket from James. I'm doing everything including sub, amp and DSR1. I fully participated in ALL the GBs

 

Nice. I did the sub, speakers, and the amp today. Holding off on the DSR1 since I want to replace the head unit... how was the center speaker install?

Remember to take rear door sail panel off before main panel. Here are the clips so you know where to pry. I failed to do this like an idiot

I'm skipping past the dash 3.5 right now because I have to go buy connectors.

 

No wonder they sound like trash. Look at that piece of crap. Can't believe JBL puts their name on that but dang do they make fat margin on us.

 

Quick tip for connecting rear tweeters. For them to work you must jump wires on stock connector. Easiest way to do this is rip connector off back of stock tweeter and plug it into connector. Works perfectly and it's a clean install vs splicing etc...

 

As for wiring the tweeter here is what I did. I'm no professional but I did what I could with what I had.

This is what I’m not understanding. Your sail tweeters were removed?

 

Yes. I replaced stock tweeter with the Hertz tweeter.

 

DO you have pictures of how you mounted and wired your tweters on the sails? I can't seem to find any info on that...

how is the rear door tweeter mounted in the door?

 

Same way the factory tweeter is mounted. It's super easy. The Hertz Tweeter comes with a little mounting ring, after you put that on, it will mount directly to whats existing.

 

My dream truck! Any reason why you ditched the brushed aluminum running boards for these ones?

 

In my opinion (like buttholes) I thought they were ugly.

Soooo dont have that 18’ Platinum anymore. Traded it last May for a 20’ Platinum. Here is the additional things I did to the 18’ and the final pics:
