Yes you are correct, I am curious to see what the cooler temp would be like in a cold snap.

I have the TRD supercharger on mine and I have 176xxx miles and she still runs like a top as long as you do your normal maintenance and not burning the tires around every corner they are amazing and add a huge amount of power and make a super funny sleeper truck is you don’t have loud pipes you will blow the doors off of almost every truck you see!

I'm up to 65K and only thing I had to do was replace the belt tensioner recently. I drive it daily but I am getting another daily driver (2019 Golf R on order).

I've driven all over the country, done a bunch of hauling, and towing my 6000lb boat from DC to Iowa and its never missed a beat.

I agree with the 25K plug change...kind of stumbled into that myself, yet it is good to see same recommendation from Magnussen.

Also agree with keeping an eye on fluids. I had a hose leak at the S/C reservoir and was able to catch it early and get it fixed.

Oh, don't assume the Toyota techs are checking the S/C fluid reservoir with all the other fluids if you take it in for an oil change. With the local Virginia dealer, they just kind of ignored it. They had a few customers that had them so they knew about the S/C, but the techs still acted like it wasn't there. I had to say something early on to get them to pay attention. Even then I didn't trust them.

Moved from DC to Iowa and my local dealer in Iowa had never seen one of these until I showed up. Therefore, I flight follow the routine maintenance plan and make sure they are checking things and I always keep an eye on things myself. In addition, I explicitly make sure the techs don't test drive it unless I am in the truck. I had them put "DO NOT TEST DRIVE" on the file.

Castle is spot on...if you are killing it, burning up the tires, running smaller pullies, etc, you will eventually have issues, and most likely they will be major issues.

    Cheers

Has the truck been supercharged it’s whole life? If so that’s impressive.

I believe it has been supercharged for the most of its life but who ever owed her before took pretty good care of it

To be clear, Magnuson said to change plugs at normal interval. My Toyota Tech team recommended every 25k.

    Too many TRD parts
Just came across this thread. I have had the trd s/c on my 12' tundra at 22k. I currently am at 205k, I have not done one thing to the s/c. Mainly because when i was at the 100k mark to change the oil as mentioned by toyota, I could not find the mechanic who installed mine and other dealerships in my area seem to have no idea what needed to be done. Im in Atlanta, and was going to just drive to Sparks in Myrtle Beach and let them do the maintenance and make a trip to the beach at the same time, but just never done it.

I drive about 30k per year, I don't dog out the s/c. I pull a 3500lb detailing trailer almost daily and its like I don't realize its back there. When I don't have the trailer hooked up that is when I will have fun with the s/c and speed around town on the interstate and just smile. I have the TRD exhaust. I have not had to replace anything. I did do the spark plugs at 200k. I drove around with them in the truck for a while. Im embarrassed to say once I got over the 150k mark, I got real slack on maintaining the truck as I should. However, it has held up well. I am back on maintaining the truck as I should. Just haven't changed the oil in the s/c. I have not had any crazy sounds or anything out of the ordinary that I can say from the s/c. The only thing that I have had happened was just recently I believe I have a bad coil pack, based on the code it threw. I will be changing out the pack this week and see if that clears the code.

After reading this thread and seeing where some have said not to change the oil per magnuson, I'm wondering if i need to? What do you think?

OH, ok...thanks for the clarity...I still change the plugs every 25K...it makes a difference, or at least it seems to for mine. Thanks.

    Yes or No.

Is it advisable to install a new SC on a NA 5.7L that already has over 200k on it?

Hard to argue with trouble-free ops...I read the same thing about the Magnussen folks saying if it isn't leaking or making any noise, not to dick with it. Unlike a combustion engine where the oil gets contaminated, the S/C is sealed and therefore, unless there is an internal issue, the oil isn't exposed to contaminants at the same rate. That said, Id be interested to hear Magnussen's thoughts on how long they think that oil could go before I'd mess with it.

Wow! Great reliability story you have. I would change the coolant and plugs though.

I am planing to change the plugs every 25k like my team recommends. Small price to pay for peace of mind.

My service tech called me and said he has a 2013 with 117k on it with TRD SC. Blown motor which was rebuilt by a Chevy dealer. Throwing codes because the rebuild didn’t include the SC but still had the tune on it. Chevy sent it to Toyota and my service tech....sounds like they are going to replace the ecu. Seems like you should be able to reset that unit.

I have had my TRD supercharger on since 2010, it like everything else was installed at the dealer so I kept everything under warranty. It was installed around 28k miles and I now have 135k miles and I have never had an issue in any way.

Well that's good to know. I have 117k on my ticker but not sure of the mileage when the PO had the SC installed. He said 4yrs ago but that only get me to guessing about the 60k mark.

Over 40K miled on my TRD SC and no issues. Tons of power. I have replaced 02 sensors, plugs and plan on flushing radiator soon. Getting a dyno and HPtune in November, so we'll see where it is in terms of horses and if any other maintenance needs to be done. But so far so good.

That's because most people with superchargers drive em like they stole em. You run any engine that hard and the life span will go down

Just took the plunge on the Harrop 2650 kit. It'll be installed and put on a Dyno at the end of the month. I don't drive the truck hard, but looking forward to the occasional pull. :burnrubber:

    Can't wait!

I plan on documenting the installation and Dyno runs, too. Not too many Harrop Supercharged Tundras out there yet.

I'll post a thread in the coming weeks

I've read all of this thread from the beginning.
2 years ago this December, at 228,000 miles, my SC was installed. Magnuson, installed by a Toyota dealer.
    I'm almost at 270,000 miles.
I don't spin the tires, thanks to the computer, but I do drive hard, but maybe not crazy enough or often enough for any tickets,.... Yet.
    I LOVE the Super Charger!!!
It does make the truck feel a ton lighter when excellerating.
I'm glad I was able to afford it.
I plan on driving it until a Tundra with 30 mpg, self driving, high HP, hybrid is available.
That might be a while, and since this truck still rides, drives, feels like it's almost new, and a couple Tundras have already hit a million miles, I'll keep giving it premium and full synthetic as often as I can, to show it how much I love it.
My 2 cents is, if you want it and you can afford it, do it!

    Excellent!

Did you, or the installing dealer perform any special engine checks or service before installing the SC?
I am almost at 290,000 miles.
